Anyone watching UM vs. OSU?

Good game so far, 3-2 Minnesota in the 6th. Larnach to hit.

Larnach 2-2 with a walk.

Boy the ESPN guys are pumping Max Meyer's tires. He looks pretty good too.

DETROIT -- Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera will have season-ending surgery after rupturing his left biceps tendon, manager Ron Gardenhire announced on Tuesday after the Tigers' 6-4 loss to the Twins.

Yikes, I didn't realize that injury was going to end his season...

Brutal. It certainly looked like something popped out of place on his follow through.

It looked like a normal swing, so I'm not sure what his prognosis will be for coming back.

I think as Twins fans everybody kind of pointed to Miguel's contract and said that's good now but it's going to be brutal at the back end; he doesn't look to have the type of body to hold up into his late 30's and beyond.

Now that the Tigers are nowhere near a contender, I'm actually kind of bummed. I always liked Cabrera as a player and was/am hoping that he'll end up putting up career numbers to put him with the game's all time elite.

He had a 155 OPS+ in 2016 and was at 129 this year. He’s aging pretty well, IMO. This type catastrophic injury might not be age related, for that matter.

Possibly not, his previous hamstring issue might be. The power looked to be nearly gone, maybe that was due to his biceps issue though.

How hilarious is the response by Kratz in the last tweet?

Erik Kratz on that little dust-up with Joey Votto: "Completely blown out of proportion, that’s all. We were discussing the Canadian dollar and flawed systems in our two governments. He was coming from a different side of it, and we were just discussing those kinds of things."

I just wanted to check up on a few former Twins and see how they were doing:

Randy Rosario - Cubs - 1.89 ERA, 19 IP, 4.3 BB/9, 5.2 K/9 [4.73 FIP]

J. T. Chargois - Dodgers AAA (after being demoted) - 1.80 ERA, 15 IP, 4.2 BB/9, 5.4 K/9

(it's actually a little spooky how similar those stat lines are. I swear I chose these by coincidence...)

Jermaine Palacios - Rays A+ (after demotion) - .315/.345/.500 (.845 OPS in 59 PA)

Are we sure it was a good idea to give up on Rosario after one shaky season in AA? He's been lights-out for the Cubs in AAA and the majors, but his peripherals aren't that good. He's only 24 so if you told me he had a future as a middle reliever, I'd believe it.

Meanwhile, many here berated the Twins FO for DFA'ing Chargois, and while I didn't like the move either, he earned himself a demotion and he's pitching well at AAA. He's out of options next year, so it remains to be seen if he'll be able to stay on a MLB roster.

Palacios started the season at AA while just 21 years old - it was clearly a mistake as he hit just .502 OPS in 180 PAs. I still think he has the potential to be a starting SS in the majors, but it's going to take longer than what the Rays were hoping for.

I just found it odd how we saw Rosario and Jorge premier early in the majors last season and that ended up being the last time they ever played as a Twin (barring any return). Jorge doesn't strike me as much of a prospect so I'm not that concerned, but I'm not a fan of how these younger guys are getting DFA'd to keep guys like Belisle on the team.

Oh, and I want to drop one more note for two could-have-been starting pitchers for the Twins:

Yu Darvish - 8 starts, 4.95 ERA, 4.80 FIP, 4.7 BB/9, 11.0 K/9 (-0.3 WAR)

Anibal Sanchez - 8 starts, 1 relief ap, 2.68 ERA, 4.03 FIP, 3.1 BB/9, 8.4 K/9 (+1.0 WAR)

(they're both injured at the moment)

Yeah, I know it's a small sample size, but baseball can be weird sometimes. Maybe those analytics suggesting Sanchez still had something in his repertoire weren't wrong. It's also a nice reminder to not pay starting pitchers in their 30s so much money.

Looks like the Dodgers regret last year, and are righting their decision not to trade for Dozier by trading for Machado......

Knowing Baltimore? some AAA player with a low ceiling that is close to the majors....

On a serious note:

total guess:

Alex Verdugo (who might meet my joke above)

SP in AA or A
