Just got this press release....

ESPN'S Keith Law, author of SMART BASEBALL: The Story Behind the Old Stats That Are Ruining the Game, the New Ones That Are Running It, and the Right Way to Think About Baseball, will appear on Thursday, May 18 at 6:30 PM at Moon Palace Books, 3260 Minnehaha Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55406.

Mr. Law will be doing and discussion along with local authors Michael Fallon, author of Dodgerland: Decadent Los Angeles and the 1977-1978 Dodgers, and Peter Schilling Jr., author of the novel The End of Baseball.

Smart Baseball is Predictably Irrational meets Moneyball, as Keith Law, ESPN’s veteran writer and analyst on baseball statistics, challenges a century of the game’s accepted wisdom, proving why some of baseball’s most trusted numbers—from pitcher wins to batting average—are surprisingly wrong, sharing the statistics that actually work, and examining the future of the game in a Big Data world.

Keith Law is a senior baseball writer for ESPN Insider and an analyst for ESPN’s Baseball Tonight, focusing on all types of baseball analysis. Prior to joining ESPN, Law spent four and a half years working as a Special Assistant to the General Manager for the Toronto Blue Jays, handling all statistical analysis and was also a writer for Baseball Prospectus. Law holds degrees from Harvard and Carnegie Mellon and lives in Delaware.

I don't know, it is a site to discuss sports, not airline safety.....maybe we should take it less seriously?

Just chatted with Keith (first name basis, we have a vibe)...

Was a fun chat. Over the phone, he was a great guy. But, I'd encourage people to read the book, and I also wish I could be there on Thursday night for the signing. Would be a lot of fun.

His honesty about his anxiety issues and advocacy for things like that are admirable for sure.
