In my medical opinion, the shoulder issue was caused by "they call me up and sit me in the bullpen for around 10 days" with a hint of "oh good, I get to start - wait, what do you mean you're pulling me in the 3rd inning?" Medically speaking.

I thought I recognized the name! We were at the same sports medical convention. :) sadly the AMA has so far refused to recognize our field of endeavo(u)r. :(

I'm just going to be happy for the kid; that's good enough for me.

You are a good fan, Charlie Brown.

I'm just glad we got rid of Denard Span five years ago.We didn't need him anyway.

Could be worse. The Twins initially went to the Braves and the Braves rejected J.R. Graham for Span.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Meyer's gem was 4 innings. No walks, 2 hits, 6 strikeouts. A good outing
but definitive sss. Btw - Nolasco pitched a complete game 4 hit shutout a couple of nights ago.

Anyways - time will tell. One thought - now that folks are clamoring to trade Dozier for pitching. Trading a solid major league
position player for a pitching prospect is truly high risk. Even the best pitching prospects, like Meyer (or Bundy or Wheeler or Berrios....)
are one pitch away from total system failure. You have to develop your own.

He looked awesome.  First pitch 98, second pitch 99.  Never in any kind of trouble and had maybe one pitch that was a bit wild.

I hope Meyer does well.

And I hope Molitor is fired.

I am routing for him but I don't think Meyer is going to be a dependable starter unless he suddenly finds a lot more consistency in his delivery. The stuff is there for sure but his release point is all over the place and he throws with such effort. He could however have a bright future as a late inning guy.He is in a better place to succeed now, I don't think this Twins organization has any idea how to develop a pitcher like him.

Why did the Twins have Meyer on the shelf since June ??

He immediately started pitching for the Angels.

no he didn't. he didn't pitch until 11 days after the trade, and didn't really lengthen out until three weeks after the deal.

Pitched a gem the other night for them.

$20 says he becomes a solid #2 for them for the next 4-5 years.

if by "for them" you mean four innings in a triple-a game. he looked very good, but he was doing that in the twins organization this year too.

He was hurt. He's been rehabbing in Ft. Myers ever since. He was finally ready to throw.

here is a bold prediction - Meyer absolutely dominates next season because he is healthy and before the end of 2018 he undergoes substantial shoulder surgery. It will be awful to watch as a Twins fan and the FO criticisms will reach epic proportions but that arm is pitching on borrowed time. I definitely don't wish an injury on him but that is reality.

Is 2016 2017 2018 the year that a good pitching prospect is truly blocked by 5 good pitchers in the starting rotation?

Offseason (noun) - a time to propose trades assuming opposing GM's can't do the same basic analysis

I think we probably have enough info to say that should happen regardless.

Highly unlikely everyone loses their job on the minor league field staff level . The minor league pitching coordinator and the minor league coordinator are more likely, but not a certainty.Allen and Guardado go only if Molitor does not like them, they quit, or Molitor quits.

I classify this promotion as a "what do we have with this guy"? Meyer is no kid. He has September to show the Angels he has a "present"--or else!

Good luck to him.  Sure, I guess I wonder what "really" happened, in a gossipy sort of way.  My impression of him, perhaps wrong, was that he was a real good kid.  Things went sour for him here.  He's not the only one.

Man, pitching prospects.  In an apples to cucumbers comparison, Zack Wheeler is on the shelf for the rest of the year.  I bolded, italicized, and underlined cucumbers there just to emphasize I realize how different the two situations really are.  They are both fruits, however.

I'm glad for Meyer but Anthony should have walked from that trade when they wanted Meyer. I knew this was going to happen and it ticks me off. What a incompetent FO bunch and you can include Molitor. Worse team in baseball, worse starting pitching and they trade away a prospect with big upside. What a bunch of idiots.
