Actually, the internal guy is rumored to want that.......

I'd like the most likely to change to be around speeding up the game for real, and getting rid of the stupid black out rules......that would be a nice start.

I don't know, it is a site to discuss sports, not airline safety.....maybe we should take it less seriously?

Overall, I think Selig has done a pretty good job.Revenue is great. Most teams have new stadiums now.I think 21 have been built under his tenure.Consolidating the American and National League offices, consolidating the umpire pool, and realignment with introduction of wild cards are some of the good things that have happened under his tenure. The steroid era, the All Star game tie, the strike of 1994, and of course possible contraction are some of the bad things that happened under his tenure whether he was the commissioner or acting commissioner.

A few things like would like to see or at least see addressed:

I would like to see a more balanced schedule within each league.

Possibly limit interleague play to be three years on, three years off.The three years on you could have a home and away series with each division in the opposite league.

Perhaps having the DH rule apply to both leagues.

Totally disagree on interleague play, I don't get why people don't want a chance to see all the best players live.

I must read different rumors. I always read Mansfred was more or less a continuation of the labor policies of Selig. It is hardline owners (like Reinsdorf) that want a change.

Papers...business papers.

You can go vote for that as the #1 priority at ESPN.

I don't see much room for that, unless you shorten the time between innings, and that ain't happening.

I am not the paranoid you're looking for.

I know there is some experimentation out there with trying to shorten the gaps between pitches.  So there is less of a song and dance constantly with guys going in and out of the box.

The game was played in shorter lengths of time in the past, I'd push to get back there.

It's not hard to speed up the game. All the umpires have to do is enforce the bloody rule already on the books:

8.04
When the bases are unoccupied, the pitcher shall deliver the ball to the batter within 12 seconds after he receives the ball. Each time the pitcher delays the game by violating this rule, the umpire shall call Ball. The 12-second timing starts when the pitcher is in possession of the ball and the batter is in the box, alert to the pitcher. The timing stops when the pitcher releases the ball.
The intent of this rule is to avoid unnecessary delays. The umpire shall insist that the catcher return the ball promptly to the pitcher, and that the pitcher take his position on the rubber promptly. Obvious delay by the pitcher should instantly be penalized by the umpire.

And if the batter is delaying the game, change the rule to call a strike instead.

But Brock, the batter needs to step out and check the signs from the 3B coach on a 1-1 count with no one on base........

There's absolutely no reason why a guy needs to adjust his helmet and fix his gloves with a 1-1 count and no one on base. So... I'm gonna step off the mound, wipe my brow, and rub the baseball until this moron's back in the batter's box and actually ready to hit...

"With the bases unoccupied..."

I don't think pace of play is an issue with bases unoccupied.

So what does having a new commish mean for the league in general? anything?

Length of games aren't an issue to me. Baseball is great, and when it lasts longer I don't mind.

Manfred should mean continued labor peace, as he was a front man in that peace since the mid-90s.  The worry that many around the game have shared is that he has been known to be more hard-lined on player behavior, and we could see pressure to increase off-field punishments with Manfred in office.  Otherwise, I think you basically get a younger Bud from a lot of what I read about the man.
