I think it means that Ryan plans to shuffle around a lot of roster pieces in the next week. I'm sure Milone will be in Minnesota shortly.

Yea a pitcher has to go down for Milone to go up I presume. Also this is a win for the youth movement seeing Vargas come up!

But until it does happen, it has not happened. Maybe they aren't even keeping Milone?

Another possibility.

But realistically, there is no way Milone sits in AAA so we can watch the likes of Pino and Darnell pitch in Minnesota. That's absurd.

I chalk this up in the "nothing to see here" category. Everything is in flux today and it may take a couple of days for things to settle down.

Is Milone coming off injury? A short trip to AAA would not be a big deal. I like this move.

Santana full time CF here on out. He's still got a lot to work on (like making a catch on that Gordon double last night) but he'll be ok providing he gets on base. Not great but ok.

Baseball Reference says he hasn't pitched since July 4th?

He's been in AAA since the A's got Samardzija and Hammel.

So it's official?  The Redwings have a superior pitching staff than the Twins?

It's probably not even close really.

This, too.

  1. I'm told not to read too much into Milone heading to AAA. Just pitched Tuesday. He'll be w/ the #MNTwins soon.

I like this trade all around.

A superfulous 4th OF (maybe even 4th best on our current roster) and Milone, statistically, fits in more about #3 or #4 starter on our staff.

Then Vargas coming up...is this just a quick available bat type of thing (e.g. Polanco call up) or does it say something about the impending return or prolonged return of Mauer (1B/DH)?

Or is it again, a placeholder as Milone will be up in a few days scenario.

Good call, I missed that.

If Fuld is traded, Vargas is coming up to take his place which is why Milone is in AAA for now. Guessing he can be brought up just as soon as a guy like Willingham or KC are traded.

Wait, Milone goes to AAA, and the AAA pitchers in MN stay up? What? Downgrade my grade to a B.

Yeah, I don't get why Milone goes to AAA while Pino and Darnell stay. But maybe another move or 2 by the end of the day. They can't go too long with only Santana for CF.Maybe Correia goes today or Willingham with Vargas coming up.

This guy seemed to think Milone was good enough for the Yankees to give up Sanchez and 3 other players for. Now, I disagree with him a bit, but it is interesting to note that there are others out there who think Milone can be a solid pitcher.

Milone has not exactly been dominate in AAA since being sent down. Maybe being in a new organization will enliven him

Does Vargas pretty much say no Pinto?

It's also nice having a decent lefty to go into the rotation.

It's a good deal, considering they got Fuld for nothing. Milone has been a decent major league pitcher. He's not anything special, though. It is a little concerning that the A's decided he wasn't good enough to be an #5 starter though. Hopefully this isn't all the Twins do today. Would like to see Correia moved to clear a spot for Milone, May or Meyer, and they really do need to find a Fuld like guy to help in CF. I think it's likely the 4 K's last night (and 9 over the last 4 games) are in indication that the league has started to figure out Santana. I don't mind them playing him to see how he adjusts and to get him some experience. However, it would be helpful to have another CF.

I mean, the A's rotation was already the best in baseball arguably and now it definitely is. He was sent down after they got Hammel (Who was having a career year) and Samardiza (Hammel is now the odd man out with Lester in Oakland)

I think the Twins are just waiting to see what happens the rest of the day before they start sending more guys down to the minors etc. Milone will be with the big league club by Saturday.

Ok, I'm calmer now about being in AAA.....move along, nothing to see here....

I don't know, it is a site to discuss sports, not airline safety.....maybe we should take it less seriously?

I think they need to let today play out. They could have Milone at Rochester because he was in AAA with the A's. Let's see if there are any further moves and how the roster gets jumbled by other trades before worrying about him not being up quite yet.
