3 for 20 in his last 5 games with more than a few fielding blunders. This is a perfect time for a day off to regroup. With our pitching, we really need his glove in the field everyday making plays.

So the Tigers go for the sweep.

And we start by walking the first batter then giving a hit to the second batter and missing the cutoff man. Runners on second and third with no outs. Walters is having trouble throwing strikes.

Nice heads up play by Casilla tagging out a slumbering Cabrera. But we are already down 1-0.

Wow, Span gets a hit for that? A big league second baseman makes that play 49 out of 50 times.

Hey, that extra "hit" increased his trade value.

Ugh....Mauer and Morneau both smoked the ball that inning but they hit it right at the outfielders.

Nice AB by Mauer -- made Porcello throw a lot of pitches then gave him a nasty bruise.

Did Porcello deliberately hit Willingham?

And now we hit Peralta after Tigers steal second. Seems fair to me.

Plouffe had no chance to get to first with Porcello diving in front of him like that.

Walters is living dangerously, but so far has been able to work his way out of trouble.

Everytime Fat Crapps takes the mound I get nervous. The guy doesn't inspire confidence

Great idea by Span. When the opponent's pitcher and first baseman are both morbidly obese, you have a good job of getting on with a drag bunt.

I wouldn't let Crapps close another game. Move him into the set up role. Give Duensing or Perkins the closer job. 0-2 count and you throw a fastball middle in. To a pull hitter. Real friggin brilliant

The "proven" closer line of thinking is a proven line of crap.

Mauer called for it.

You simply cannot throw a pitch that can be hit that hard on 0-2.

I don't suppose you remember where that discussion about 2-strike pitching is on BYTO? I'm curious about all the numbers I pulled up, but not curious enough to pull them all up again.

I seem to recall them being relatively poor in those situations, but not as bad we thought they'd be.

Miggy is the best player in baseball.

He currently has the 3rd highest OPS in the league....

....among players named Cabrera.
