Haha. This is amazing. Especially that throw.

You can come up with statistics to prove anything. Forty percent of all people know that.

About five years ago (in beer league softball), I did the exact same thing. Dove, missed, came up throwing, and spiked the ball right into the ground. Threw my elbow out. I can't laugh at this only because this clip has been forwarded to me by multiple teammates....already.
I will one day successfully sneak onto the Sportive Podcast, and have nothing intelligent to say or add to the conversation.

I would hope it was a double and then a throwing error. That would be some favorable hometown score keeping if it was considered a HR.

I thoroughly enjoy Tom Hamilton audio clips on crazy plays.

Mindful of Tim Tuefel's homer in the early days of the Dome. Was it a grand slam? Pop fly to short right field that bounced in front of right fielder, over his head, and all the way to the wall.

Sorry about the elbow. But forwarding a clip like this to you is what a good teammate should do.

To be fair, I was playing softball last night and had the worst throw of my life... and I've made some terrible throws in my time. So, I know that feeling.

Didn't Christian Guzman round the bases on a bunt and a series of errors once?

Yeah, against Cleveland if IIRC. MLB doesn't have the video on their site though. They really have to improve their video library.

I know I would have. I can't remember who has the face-plant headfirst slide avatar, but I slid just like that on a close play to the plate.

The field had carpet under the dirt in the batters box to keep it from getting the massive holes when the players dig in. It was going to be a close play in a close game, so I went for the head-first slide, hit the carpet, and stopped dead. I cut my chin on the dirt from hitting hit so hard, but the catcher missed the ball, so I crawled the final 5 feet to score.

I'm still expecting the full-sized photo of that avatar to show up in my email inbox with a "remember that slide" note attached.

Delmon has nothing on Rayburn, that was priceless.

What's ever happened to that random funny stuff thread. That would probably be a good place for this clip.
