Bizarre move. It means less ABs for Pinto, which is a negative.

You did see that Danny Santana is DHing today?

No apology necessary for Pelfrey. It should have worked out much better than it did. I am more annoyed at the moment that they signed Correia to a two year deal. Morales looks like a huge upgrade over what Kubel has done for us. Only thing is Vargas doesn't look too far away from which we expect about the same thing. Morales would need a little time to get ready. Would he be blocking Vargas if it is more than a 1 year contract? Or are we trading Mauer?

  • Morales to #Twins confirmed. One-year deal. Dollars less than Drew but "in ballpark," source says. First reported: @JonHeymanCBS

On a 1-year deal wouldn't that mean somewhere around $8 million?

Probably signed as trade bait then.

Hello Morales, May, Fuld.
Goodbye Kubel, Correia, Hicks.
Hello Wildcard

Now if they can find a reliever to replace Burton.

Full time DH. One year contract. Better against right handed pitching over his career.

In theory, he takes always at bats from Pinto. However, it really is Gardenhire who has been taking away at bats. There is no reason Pinto couldn't DH against lefties with Morales or Mauer on the bench.

Wow. Well done, Ryan/Antony. Looks like they're in it to win it this season.

Which makes the Kevin Correia situation all the more baffling.

Rhett Bollinger @RhettBollinger · 6s

To avoid confusion, it's the prorated amount of $12 million per an MLB source. So roughly $7.6 million.

Great deal. More offense, no draft pick comp. He's a great fit for this team, offering protection for Willingham and Arcia.

Wow. The payroll will be all the way up to $90 million now. Jim Pohlad just felt a chill.

It's nice to see the Twins show they're serious. It's also nice to see them spend money that we knew they had.

Public sentiment has turned against them. Attendance is dwindling. They had to do something.

Does Ryan/Antony realize Morales didn't play for the Twins during their "glory days"? Heyman must be confused and meant Jose Morales.

I will never understand TR's infatuation with PITCHTOCONTACT and slow footed DH types! The team now has 6-7 guys who are not capable of playing decent defense. If this means less mauer in the lineup I am ok with it!

There's always tomorrow. They would have an excuse to send Pinto to AAA.
