I imagine the Rangers are not too pleased with the non-call at third base.

That should count as two losses for the Rangers.

Arcia with a homer and a long double. I credit stringer bell, whoever he is.

Santana as well?

Yep... And throw Pinto in there as well because he hasn't played since January.

Those four should play tomorrow... Nunez... Arcia... Santana and Pinto...

The other 8... On the bench!!!

Nunez with the triple deke around Beltre and Santana's error to end the game are the icing on that bizarre walk-off finish.

Wow. Another weird win for a team that continues to defy the odds. Cool. And as a bonus, Nunez' english decoding and broadcasting skills were great. Sign that the team is poised to move on from the loss of Cola.

Yeah... That sure looked out of the baseline.

It would have been funnier if Nunez would have kept running ran and hid behind the tarp.

A team beats itself tonight and it isn't the Minnesota Twins. That's the way I like it.

I suppose the ump was saying, "if you're standing the baseline, he can go around you"

Per MLB Rules:

7.08
Any runner is out when --
(a) (1) He runs more than three feet away from his baseline to avoid being tagged unless his action is to avoid interference with a fielder fielding a batted ball. A runner’s baseline is established when the tag attempt occurs and is a straight line from the runner to the base he is attempting to reach safely;

I suppose you could argue the ump's call was correct

Edited to add this gem

(i) After he has acquired legal possession of a base, he runs the bases in reverse order for the purpose of confusing the defense or making a travesty of the game. The umpire shall immediately call “Time” and declare the runner out;

I suppose that's why they sent Florimon down to AAA before he got automatically called out every time he came to the plate, for making a travesty of the game

I don't know. He didn't take a good route on that ball. Got turned around and was lucky to catch it at all. We get that a lot around here. Won't name any names. You know who you are.

I watched the highlights and it was fun to watch Arcia and Nuñez. They showed a lot of fire out there. Nuñez has had a couple of big late game hits already. He isn't a great player, but he has something to offer.

We won!

And it'll be a very interesting season indeed if this is a representative win...

I missed the special base running of Nunez, but, hopefully i'll catch a highlight sometime.

Thanks all!

Good point. That being said, pigeonhole Boots at your own risk. A disregarded master of freedom and champion of the only American art form...

jaAAazz...

Anyway, like Reider said, nice from behind win. Not big on intangibles in baseball, but might think about buying Twins stock long if this keeps up.

Nice win. It is certainly nice to see see the ball bounce the Twins way.

I have not chimed in on this season until a few days ago and at that time I did not have much to say, but, I like this team a whole helluva a lot compared to the last few years and I get they are at best an "Even Steven" team. I think Dozier, Plouffe, and Suzuki have appeared to become leaders on this team, but I cannot ignore Arcia's passion and explosiveness. He may not be a leader on this club, but he can start some fires.... and I love it!!! It is players like Arcia that continue to draw me to watching MLB.

A short losing streak ends - let's begin a winning one. 3-1 against the Rangers and a sweep of the Yanks!!!

Here's to hoping! +++++++++++++++

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Pretty sure that rule was enacted after a guy in the teens (or possibly 20s) stole second base, then stole first, then stole second again.

I seem to recall that's how it happened. It was really bizarre.

edit: seems that it was somewhat common back in the day:

In baseball's earlier decades, a runner on second base could "steal" first base, perhaps with the intention of drawing a throw that might allow a runner on third to score (a tactic famously employed by Germany Schaefer). However, such a tactic was not recorded as a stolen base. MLB rules now forbid running clockwise on the basepaths to "confuse the defense or make a travesty of the game".[26] Further, after the pitcher assumes the pitching position, runners cannot return to any previous base.

I wonder how the probability of scoring a run changes when you leave second base in order to steal first base. Maybe that's a strategy that makes sense above the t-ball level, where kids seem to employ it on a somewhat regular basis. Hmmm....
