Twins HOF? First vote. Baseball HOF? It'll take a few years.

I didn't even look at the author of this thread. I just mattered "Oh christ, Dave." when I saw the title.

He takes too many pitches and doesn't hit for power in the clutch.

A sub 1.00 ERA. Absolutely. In all seriousness, you get people who bail on Mauer after 30 at bats, but nobody ever jumps on the bandwagon when someone starts out hot.

They just need to be careful not to injure anything.

He's a lock! In all seriousness, it's been great watching him pitch. Keep it up!

I would say yes, but since Gardy didn't let him complete that game... it's going to take an extra year.

Nah, by the time he's eligable they'll be retroactively voting in all the past PED users, so he'll get shafted.

I voted No (but he'll get in the next year).

I know that's controversial, but I just don't think his total body of work is there yet. I'm going to need to see 10 to 15 more innings before I can really judge whether he belongs on the first ballot.

How about being the Twins sole representative at the 2014 All Star Game?

Yes. But only by riding in on Colabello's coattails.

Kiss of death? The Strib offered this factoid: "The last Twins pitcher to win each of his first three starts as a member of the opening day rotation was Livan Hernandez in 2008."

I hate that darned rally monkey, but it was the only logical option this time.

Since he's been compared favorably to Tom Glavine on TD, and Glavine just got in the Hall on the first ballot, I'm wondering:

Why hasn't the Clemente rule been invoked and Gibby already been inducted, pre-posthumously?

Would Gardy let him play SS on his off days?

If so, he will be the first active hall of famer.

With the time it takes pelfrey to pitch...gib-sony might make the hall of fame before the end of this game. #meyeryet # mayyet #hoffmanyet

by the time this game gets over tyler kolek might be taking pelfreys spot.

The real question is, will he be the first to receive a unanimous vote?

Must be Gibby's having been drafted in the first round that gets him HoF buzz after only one very strong start instead of two, like future Korean Baseball Organization Hall of Famer Andrew Albers.

I have to disagree with the emerging consensus here. His salary of $502,500 is going to hamstring the front office for years, and the sportswriters are going to crucify him when the time comes.

I honestly feel like Gibson and Hughes are going to make a pretty nice 2/5 of a rotation this year.

However, it may be early to giving any serious thought to the Hall of Fame for Gibson.

Gibson pitches Twins to 1/2 game out of first.

I just hope Mauer won't feel butthurt when Gibson's contract extension dwarfs Joe's meager pay.
