Position: 2B

Jorge Polanco was signed as a non-drafted free agent on July 6, 2009 by the Minnesota Twins. TwinsCentric has already done a wonderful write up on Polanco that can be found here. I'm looking forward to following this prospect and updating any news and notes that I can.

47 XBH in 115 games as a 19 year old in the Midwest League opened some eyes for sure.
I'm pretty excited to see how he handles the FSL.

This is one of the young kids I'm most excited about. There were some very good write ups after being signed by the Twins originally. But when he didn't show a lot with the bat initially, and being signed the same year as Sano, he sort of drifted to the background until 2012 when he began to blossom.

He's coming off a solid year and a great year, only 20, and already at high A.

Absolutely crazy how young so many of the top Twins bats and arms are!

it would be awesome if he could stick at SS long term, his original position when signed. You have to believe he's not only maturing as a ball player, but physically as well. As I've stated before, even if his arm never develops to anything elite, hands, range and getting rid of the ball quickly and accurately are still the most important aspects at SS.

I have been and still am very much a fan and believer in Dozier. And I would absolutely keep Rosario at 2B for as long as possible for a couple reasons. (Position movement and trades, etc) But Polanco is one of those guys who I believe is going to force his own issues, whether that be as a starter or excellent utility player.

Interesting that Polanco started the opener at SS and Goodrum at 3B. Organization would apparently love for him to stick at short as well.

I love watching this guy's stat line. He is staying over a .300 avg, taking walks, has nearly a .800 ops, his errors seem to have leveled out a bit and he is playing short. I don't khnow the exact progression of his error total but it seems to me he go to 10 very quickly and now he is only at 13. Exciting.

Sorry but there's no way Jorge's AAP thread shouldn't be elevated to the top of the list, so that's what I'm doing.

Seriously... even if it's just for a few days, the guy got promoted from Class A to the Show!

And Friday night, he had a 2 run triple in the 9th inning for his first Big League hit. It just doesn't get much better than this.

Hip Hip Jorge!

Overall, it sounds like Polanco had a successful audition this weekend.

I'm hoping this accelerates his path back to the majors, maybe even to compete as a full timer sometime next year or the spring after. Why not?

Happy birthday Jorge Polanco - just turned 21 today!

Polanco had a productive week back in A+. Since his return from MLB he has hit .350/.435/.600 (if I got those right).

It made sense to send him back to Fort Myers for a few games, a short debriefing with the coaches and a chance to shake hands with his old teammates before moving on to New Britain. Obviously I don't know what's best for this guy but I wouldn't mind seeing him get the opportunity to move through the system back to the majors within a couple years.
