Alexander (Alex) Muren is my adopt-a-prospect. He was born November 6, 1991, in Ramona, California (San Diego County). The righthander is listed as 6'3" and weighs 195.
He was drafted in the 12th round of the 2012 MLB June Amateur Draft, following his junior year at Cal State Northridge. He signed quickly, June 18. His college page (http://gomatadors.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/muren_alex00.html) holds a wealth of detail that I mainly won't repeat here. In his 2012 college season had a 5-8 W-L record in 14 games (all starts), a 5.30 ERA, and 47 Ks in 91.2 innings. In 2011 he went 2-1 in 13 games (5 starts), 4.69 ERA, 22 Ks in 40.1 innings. It doesn't look like he played in varsity games his freshman year. He played some outfield in addition to pitching, and while in high school he was also an excellent football player (QB and kicking). LEN3's scouting report (http://www.startribune.com/printarticle/?id=157346605) places his fastball in the 90-94 MPH range.
Despite his college experience he was placed in the Gulf Coast League. At this writing, he has not yet appeared in a game for the GCL Twins.
