According to the Long Island Ducks' Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/#!/LIDucks/status/203576961124143105), the Orioles have signed Lew Ford and have assigned him to their AAA team. Ford is my most favorite Twins player to start a game with a wispy goatee only to shave it mid-game. Welcome back to baseball, The Great Lewtardo.

Has he ironed his shirt while wearing it, lately?

I know he's quirky and is the subject of several jokes at this point, but he's an interesting and fun part of the Twins story of success last decade.

I always enjoyed watching Lew Ford. He wasn't the greatest player but he gave everything he had and came up with some great moments in Twins history! LEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

I always like Lew Ford. He was a plus defender, great base stealer, walked a bit, hit for power....and then the wheels came off.
Always wondered if the "Twins Way" wrecked him. When he came up.....he had this great bat speed, could turn on just about any pitch. By his 3rd season he wasnt walking anymore and he was smashing everything into the ground.

I was Backpacking by myself in japan in 2008. If you haven't been to japan, it can be a very isolating place to be alone. No one talks to you in public, no one even overtly looks at other people. Anyways after about a week on my own, I was walking through a park when all of a sudden this old japanese dude starts jabbering away to me very excitedly. it takes me a minute but I realize he's saying "lew ford! Lew ford!" while pointing at my ever-present twins hat. We then had a discussion about how lew ford sucks. It was an amazing moment and I've loved lew ford ever since.

This has been proven to be false. He burned himself while ironing but wasn't wearing the shirt.
Tough my cousin did do that. Amazing moment in family history.

Ex-Twins reliever Pat Neshek is also playing for the Orioles' AAA team.

And he's currently got a 1.417 OPS at AAA. Go Lew!
(OK, it's only 1 game.)

On Sunday, Lew Ford went 3-5 with two doubles for Norfolk. He's now 6-12 with two walks in three games so far.

Interesting fact I did not recall, Lew Ford received an MVP vote (though not a 1st place vote) in 2004. So he finished tied for 24th in MVP voting that year:

The Top 5 vote-getters for MVP that season had 34+ HR's and 120+ RBI's, yet Lew Ford got a vote. Amazing.

Michael Young got a ton of votes, he wasn't any better than Lew was.
Yep, we sure had some serious Lew-mania during '04. Crazy. Wonder who voted for him, though?
