My cousin is a big Texas AM football fan and he believes Stewart will sign for the slotted value of the 4th overall pick.

Stewart has #1 potential. The guy already has 2 plus pitches and has a few years of development left. Plus, he's a multi-sport athlete that hasn't focused 100% on refining mechanics (nonetheless playing QB which is a different motion).

I'm really excited about this pick. I hope he signs soon and they throw him in Cedar Rapids! I think I would have to drive down there this summer if they do.
Do or do not. There is no try.

Love the stewart pick, but I'll be upset if the Twins play it too safe for the #43 pick. I don't want another low ceiling pitcher... roll the dice on pitching or please give us a good position player. Maybe Denney?

We get a college right hander to add with Stewart in Ryan Eades. I like this pick and pitching is clearly our priority again.

Twins' draft room: Terry, we are going to take Kohl Stewart.
Terry Ryan: He is the toolsy Georgia OF right?
TDR: No, that was Byron Buxton. Kohl is a HS RHP with a lot of potential.
Terry Ryan: Whooah. Wheeewwww. You mean, we aren't getting a toolsy HS OF?
    TDR: No.
Terry Ryan: O no. Ooooo no. I don't know about this.
TDR: A link on TD told us HS OF are the riskiest 1st round pick anyway.
Terry Ryan: Is that new scouting lingo from a guy named TD?
TDR: You might want to sit down Terry. The only way we go back out there is without you.
Terry Ryan: Get your helmets on and take the field! Let's go after that tittle!
TDR: We are a baseball organization...
Do or do not. There is no try.

Just got back from watching the Twins leave 41 runners on base.

I am very pleased with the Stewart pick. Everything I read says this kid has a great attitude & all the tools.

In 2018 we may be chuckling at the teams who took Gray & Appel.

And I expect him in MLB sooner than that.

Unless hes good enough to make the NFL as a QB out of Texas A&M, Im sure he will sign and start the year in CR in 2014.

    Forgot to address that.

If he skips signing with the Twins and goes to play football he is too stupid to want on your team.

$4 million vs. an opportunity to ruin your future? From what I've read he is a smart kid. He will sign.

Stewart is a very solid pick and it was the right one to make. This isn't a Hudson Boyd mistake, this is the real deal.

He is obviously behind Berrios, but I will put him in front of Baxendale.

And then the Twins made their second pick and made a big mistake . . .

Behind Berrios? He's ahead of everyone with the exception of maybe Meyer depending on how he finishes the season.

    Agreed.

Stewart can always pull a David Shinskie or Brandon Weeden if baseball doesn't work out..

I was hoping one of the big three would fall, but we found out again a lot of the draft talk and rumors are smoke and mirrors. But can't really complain at all about this.

What I like from scanning the opinions out there, is that he has a 4-pitch mix already, and none of those pitches are an extreme work-in-progress, with 2 of them already being labelled as "plus". I also think being a QB-recruit helps him with the development of one of those pitches, the changeup, due to the similar pronating motions with the hand at release throwing a football. At least that is something I consider...

I think he slides in right behind Meyer at this point on the Twins prospect lists, ahead of Berrios pretty easily (I think a lot of people are getting ahead of themselves with Berrios, a great prospect for the Twins, but those expecting him to be an ace are going to end up disappointed).
