    Favorite Baseball SONG.

The ballpark is filled with plenty of baseball-themed music, John Fogarty's 'Centerfield' being an obvious staple. What do you classify as you favorite baseball song?

For me, Craig Finn's and The Baseball Project's "Please Don't Call 'Em Twinkies" quickly became my favorite baseball-themed song. How about you guys?

    Harmon Killebrew by Jeff Arundel.

Followed by any song in Bull Durham - with special fondness for I Got Loaded by Los Lobos.

"We're Gonna Win Twins" - the original version, not the lame version they came up with in the 80's.

I have also always loved "Joltin' Joe DiMaggio" !

Agreed. Anytime you can rhyme "I wasn't quite alive yet" with "Zoilo Versalles" you're doing something right.

I came across this while searching the You Tubes - probably the oldest known recording of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" circa 1908. Put's me in an "Opening Day" kind of mood!

Does anyone else remember the Drive Time 1991 song?

I know that Tom Petty's songs aren't baseball songs necessarily, but they always remind me of baseball. Anytime I go to a game he's who I play on my Ipod. Also, Hal Ketchum's "Small Town Saturday Night" was played before everyone of my high school games, so it instantly reminds me of baseball. Thanks for introducing me to "Don't call them Twinkies." It's a surprisingly good song, unlike the song they introduced in 2010-- GB Leighton's "Twins Territory" about made me sick!

Actually, yes I do. That brief clip of Herbie laying out to catch an attempted bunt is priceless.
"Baseball is like church. Many attend, few understand."

Here are a couple more worth mentioning:

Van Lingle Mungo - It's not really among my favorites (it's a bit slow), but the lyrics are just names of old-time baseball players and it's pretty interesting. It was written by Dave Frishberg from St Paul - I only know this because my father knew him from their school days. Apparently Frishberg also wrote "I'm Just a Bill" from the Schoolhouse Rock series, which is pretty awesome.

Talkin' baseball (Willie, Mickey, and the Duke) - More old baseball names, great song

I love the spirit of the song, but I just can't stand Craig Finn's voice.

I can't say that I have a favorite song about baseball. They all end up sounding kind of cheesy to me.
You can come up with statistics to prove anything. Forty percent of all people know that.

Having played an umpteen amount of town ball games, you get used to having baseball-themed songs blasted at you. Not being much of a country music fan, I still found Alabama's "Cheap Seats" as one of the more memorable tunes that was pumped into our earholes.
