Full Name: Angel Morales
Birthplace: Caguas, Puerto Rico
Height: 6' 1"
Center Fielder with the Fort Myers Miracle
Info from AARON GLEEMAN
Angel Morales was the Twins' third-round pick out of Puerto Rico in 2007 and emerged as one of their top prospects by showing an impressive power-speed combo in the low minors. He was a rookie-ball monster in 2008, hitting .301/.413/.623 in 54 games, and then slugged .455 at low Single-A as a 19-year-old. His power disappeared in 2010, but Morales hit .280 with a .362 on-base percentage while improving his plate discipline between two levels of Single-A.
Even while he was thriving as a young center fielder in the low minors Morales' high strikeout rates stood out as a potential red flag, but it was injuries that did him in last season. He repeated high Single-A and missed all but 37 games with an elbow injury, struggling when in Fort Myers' lineup and then going unpicked in the Rule 5 draft when the Twins opted against protecting him with a 40-man roster spot.
Morales is still just 22 years old, so if healthy he's capable of re-emerging as a top prospect this season, but five years into his pro career he's yet to advance past Single-A and his upside remains more about physical tools than actual production. Staying in the lineup will be the biggest key for Morales in 2012, but he also needs to either cut down on the strikeouts or rediscover the power he displayed early on. -----------

Angel has been in a bit of a slump lately going 0-15 in the last 4 games and his batting average has dropped to .241 13-54 on the year.

Uff da.....Angel is in a deep slump and his batting average has dropped to .211. And there seems to be some confusion as his number has changed to 13. The number change from 7 hasn't helped as he he continues to slide.

A move to batting ninth in the order on Tuesday seemed to help as Angel went 2-3 with a strikeout in a 5-1 win for the Miracle. His BA currently sits at .230

7 for 19 the last 6 games has Angels BA up to .244 despite going 0-3 yesterday. He was on a modest 5 game hitting streak and hit his first home run against Clearwater on Sunday.

Up and down - no consistency from this young prospect. Over the last 5 games Angel has gone 3-19 dropping his BA to .239 May has not been kind to him as he is batting .158 for the month.

Well...not much has changed for Angel. he is batting .244 for the year and has yet to really catch fire. Stayin the course, as they say.

After Fridays game, Angel is in a 10-25 stretch to drive the line to .268/.346/.449.
With 254 career games in Fort Myers, you get to wonder if the 'only' 23 yr old will ever hit New Brit. With ARichardson promoted to ROC, this seems a solid time to replace him as Rock Cats are severely lacking in OFs. Twins may also make him wait another month untill Buxton pushes him out.
There are several hitters that have struggled in FLA that have recently improved their numbers nicely in AA, wondered if Angel could be one of em.

In a 6 game span, Angel has his BA back up to .267. He went 9-21 with 2 Triples, both in one game against Charlotte. He also has had 3 doubles and 7 RBI's and 5 runs scored in that span.

12-33 the last 10 games =.364 BA. Angel has picked up his game and has his season BA up to .285. He also threw in 3 home runs in that stretch and has 5 for the year. He is batting .365 against lefties and .252 against righties for the year.

Morales, 23, earns a promotion to Double-A after spending 273 games with Fort Myers over the course of four seasons. In 2013, the native of Caguas, Puerto Rico hit .297 in 55 games. Morales totaled 17 doubles, four triples, seven home runs and 36 runs batted in with 35 runs scored. Morales, like Sano and Rosario, homered on Sunday as well. Morales was drafted in the third round by the Twins in 2007.
Over the last 10 games....Angel has been on a tear batting at a .394 clip going 13-33.
Stay tuned to see how he progresses with the promotion!!!

New team, new number, bad start for #12 Angel Morales. The new Rock Cats Center Fielder goes 1-16 with 6 strike outs for a .063 average in his first 5 games. Not many other options for the Rock Cats as they currently are carrying only 3 outfielders.

I think Morales will be fine soon there. I can see it being a struggle for another few weeks, but he should be fine.

Slowly making gains. Angel has gone 6-27 in his last ten games with the Rock Cats who have added a 4th outfielder to the mix. He is batting 9th in the New Britain batting order and only has 1 RBI to his credit, and a .218 OBP. His current average sits at .157.

A couple of weeks and it still hasn't really turned around for Angel. 4-26 in his last ten games with 2 RBI and 1 Home run. 10 Strike outs in 26 at bats is too high. Batting .159 for New Britain at the moment.

Since July 19th - Angel has had 33 AB's, and has struck out 18 times and at least once in every game that he has played. AND on a 0-5 night he struck out 4 times, earning the Golden Sombrero!!! He did however bounce back the next night with a 2-3 outing, a HR, double, couple of RBIs and a run scored. He is currently batting .167 for the Rock Cats.

I don't know why this kid is always so highly ranked. It reminds me of Joe Benson. He's so inconsistent!

Up .001 point since August 5th. Batting .168 6-30 in his last 10 games. Striking out 11 times. No HR's a couple of doubles a triple and 3 RBI's. He also has only coaxed 1 walk in those AB's. Starting to sour a bit on this no so young prospect.

Yeah, I am surprised that he has been this completely terrible. I thought NBR would have benefitted him somewhat. Wow.

I submit my final post on this miserable season for Angel Morales. He finished the season batting .169 for the Rock Cats. 63 Strike outs in 166 AB's. for New Britain. One league down, in Fort Myers, he struck out 64 times in 202 AB's. Seems to be a little over matched and i don't foresee him moving up anytime soon....and he will turn 24 in November. I bid you adieu, and look forward to next year and a new Adopt-A-Prospect!!! TW1NS1
