    Fun with numbers 2014

I know it's early, and this thread is usually Chief's domain, but I wanted to get this one in while I could:

As of today the Twins lead the AL in runs scored....

After 6 games, the Twins have four players with an OPS over 1.000. None of them are named Mauer or Willingham.

The old adage is to win your home games, and split on the road.

This would put the Twins on a pace to finish about 120-40.

Couple rainouts, not made up because those two games are immaterial to the final standings?

During the baseball season my blood pressure numbers are Himalayan vs. Appalachian in the off season. To me that is sad with numbers.

Either that, or I was thinking the Yankees might forfeit a couple times.

Through 4/12, Trevor Plouffe has the best 3b range factor in the AL per BB Ref.

We all looked at Jason Bartlett's March and then chuckled and/or gnashed our teeth over his .250 OPS in 3 ABs.

Pedro Florimon currently has a .233 OPS, which is good for a -30 OPS+.

And on the shortstops' page, Eduardo Escobar has a better RF/9 than Pedro Florimon.

Through 11 regular season games, the Kansas City Royals have one home run as a team.

    One.

That is currently good for a 1:356 HR/AB ratio.

    Jamey Carroll's career HR/AB ratio is 1:282.

Here is some fun with 2014 numbers: Plouffe is on pace for 120 walks, which would be 10 more walks than he has in his MLB career (across 4 seasons).

Jason Tyner and Al Newman are scoring their fingers, hoping to be the next comp you come up with.
