This profile was written about Kohl Stewart a week prior to the draft.

    Who IS This Guy?

Young Texan Kohl Stewart (6’ 3, 195) is widely considered the top prep pitcher in the nation. Kohl Stewart is also, according to ESPN, the 6th best high-school quarterback in the nation and is committed to Texas A&M.

Stewart is equipped with a mid-90s fastball (an improvement over last summer) and a “nasty” slider. The mid-80s slider projects as – if it’s not already – a plus pitch. ...

Through May 21, the Cedar Rapids Kernels had built up an impressive 30-13 record and held a five game lead over their closest competition in the Western Division of the Midwest League.

They then left town for a quick three-game road trip to Beloit after taking three out of four from Kane County. They had no clue at that time that they not only would get swept by the second place Snappers, but would return home and drop all three games of a series against the last place Burlington Bees. ...

We are all very excited about the potential of Jose (JO) Berrios. DJ Baxendale has been the best pitcher in the Twins organization to this point of the season. Tyler Duffey has been strong and consistent through the year. Two other 2012 draft picks made impressive starts on Tuesday night. 2nd Round Mason Melotakis looked to end the Cedar Rapids Kernels’ six-game losing streak. 11th round pick Taylor Rogers looked to keep the good times rolling for the Miracle. ...

The Major League Baseball Amateur Draft is fast approaching and the Minnesota Twins are slotted to pick fourth overall. With the way the season has been going for the Twins, many fans are setting their sights on the years ahead and the draft is a good place to drum up optimism and hope for a struggling team’s future.

Last season, the Twins took outfielder Byron Buxton with the number two pick in the draft and early indications are that the Twins hit a “home run” with their selection. ...

    Who IS This Guy?
Braden Shipley is a former shortstop that only moved to the mound full-time last year. He is still among the top 10 talents in the draft because of his low-effort delivery and the effectiveness of some of his pitches. His recent performances for Nevada have him moving quickly up the draft boards.

As Seth broke yesterday, the Twins added C Chris Herrmann to their roster after OF Wilkin Ramirez was lost to an alleged concussion. Which proved to be real when he blew chunks on the team flight to Milwaukee.

Rochester didn't make a corresponding addition when they announced the move this morning, leading me to believe one wouldn't be made before Trevor Plouffe, who is recovering from his own concussion, is activated on Wednesday and Herrmann was sent back down.

When the Minnesota Twins acquired starting pitcher Vance Worley from the Philadelphia Phillies in the off-season trade involving Ben Revere, no one thought that the opening day starter would be spending Memorial Day pitching in Rochester, NY, for the Red Wings.

After a dismal 1-5 start with the Twins, an ERA over seven and a WHIP of almost two, something had to be done. The Twins are hoping that he can become, after a brief stint in Rochester, the pitcher they were hoping to have acquired this past off-season.

    Who IS This Guy?

Reese McGuire is a left-handed hitting high school catcher that is ready for the majors defensively, but will need several years to develop similar offensive skills. He has been projected to go anywhere in the draft from among the top five to 20th overall. The Minnesota Twins have been linked to him by Jim Callis of Baseball America and are definitely interested.

I started the Twins mock 2013 draft a week ago, suggesting that they should select Sean Manaea with their first round and fourth overall pick. A couple days ago I presented the second to fifth round picks for the Twins in this mock draft, and now I am concluding with picks from the 6th to the 12 round.

As I indicated in the first pick presentation, like every other mock draft out there, unless someone can see all the draft boards of all teams, this is a purely recreational endeavor.

After ending their 10 game losing streak on Saturday, the Twins couldn't make it two wins in a row. The Tigers offense pounced on Mike Pelfrey for five runs on five hits in less than six innings of work. The offense didn't help him out much with three hits and a single run.

There were a few different story lines to follow in the minors so let's see what went down! ...

IT’S LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AWAY! Are you excited?

This is version 4.0 of my “small board” as I am about to go on KFAN with John and Aaron to talk about… you guessed it… the MLB Draft. A quick reminder: The Twins first pick (fourth overall) has a draft slot value of around $4.5 million.

    JEREMY’S SMALL BOARD
Keep in mind, please, that this is not a “mock draft”. This is not a reflection of my top players. This is my attempt at stacking a “Twins Draft Board”, based on a number of things.

Also, it should be pointed out that the Twins very rarely deviate from their norm: in the last 20 years, ...

On Saturday, there were several stories to follow for the Twins' minor league teams. Kyle Gibson was back on the mound, looking to put together back-to-back good starts for the first time this season. How did he do? New Britain finished a suspended game and played a second game. Matt Summers was terrific in Ft. Myers. Jorge Polanco was very good and JO Berrios was back on the mound for the Kernels.

The big news of the night is that DJ Baxendale has been promoted to New Britain. Baxendale was the Twins' minor league pitcher of the month for April, and in 28 innings in May, he has not allowed an earned run. ...

Last week, I discussed the reasons why the Minnesota Twins should select Sean Manaea with their first round and fourth overall pick. This week I am presenting, with brief profiles, potential second to fifth round picks for the Twins. The Twins do not have compensatory picks this season.

Round 2, (43 overall): Hunter Dozier, SS, Stephen F. Austin State

Will history repeat itself and have the Twins will select another college SS (and their second Dozier) in the high ...
