This was my speculation two weeks ago:
Depending on how much you buy into the 120-pitch 'test' that Trevor May underwent as part of his development, it is possible that Meyer underwent a...
My quick, back-of-the-envelope calculations makes it seem like the Twins would need to save $1.4 million from their later picks in order to not lose their #1 pick next year.
MN Total Pool: $7.52M...
Before things get too crazy this week, I want to thank everyone for contributing to an awesome thread. It has been a great ride, with lots of smart, intense, yet civil discussion about...
This is a really important point. Last year Stephen Drew, Yunel Escobar, Didi Gregorius and Zack Cozart all had roughly the same batting average (.253, .256, .252, .254). However, their wRC+ were...
Does Kolek scare anyone else? I like big-time velocity as much as the next guy, but if his command and secondary pitches don't develop he is just a bullpen arm at best.
I'm pretty sure you can't draw that conclusion just by comparing WAR. WAR is a nice way to compare two players in a context neutral setting, but it tells us very little about how their performance...
For pitchers who lack the ability to get hitters swing and miss on pitches in the zone, there will always be some tradeoff between strikeouts and walks. I'm sure that every pitcher wants to strike...
It is fascinating to me that we have such completely opposite viewpoints on the top two high school players. Jackson is the player that scares me. All of his value it tied to his bat, and as a corner...

5/$40M feels like way too much, but I'm not sure I have a good idea of what his arbitration baseline is. Chris Johnson received $2.3M his first year, and he hadn't performed like Dozier has the past...
I agree. This is not the year for the Twins to try to play games with bonus pool money. There are too many teams that are in a much better position. The following teams all have multiple picks...
I definitely relate to this. I often catch myself over-thinking things with these top players in the sense that I want them to play really well, but not be too dominate, because if they are too good...
Yep. Some years it is sucks to be stuck at #5 when there are only a few great options in a draft. This does not appear to be one of those years. Hopefully everyone stays healthy and effective so that...

I dug around a little bit, and the following position players all had TJ:
My top 5:
1) Correa // super young for draft class. raked. projected to stay at short.
2) Zunino // I had visions of the next Buster Posey
5) Buxton // old for draft class....

I put together a table of the recent top HS pitchers, and how they progressed through the minors. (Note: Year 1 is the first full season, so if the pitcher was drafted in 2007, Year 1 is 2008.)
At the very least, Gilmartin has solid bullpen potential.
Lefties against Gilmartin the past two seasons:
2013 - .219/.252/.383
2012 - .185/.217/.289
Even in 2013 when he was terrible overall...
Does the signing of Phil Hughes and Mike Pelfrey change the opinion of anyone about when Meyer will debut with the Twins? Now I'm thinking he may be a September call up.
Now there is a lot of time...
Player A (25 and 26 seasons):

Player B (26 and 27 seasons):
