The Twins went out and spent big on free agent pitching during the offseason, and yet they still can't seem to escape the same old outcome: eroded depth and a totally inadequate starting staff.

I think it's asking too much of Hughes to take on the Rangers by himself.

I was going to 'LIKE' your post until I saw the Joba comment....

That was some of the most painful pitching I've ever watched.
I don't really feel anyone has a right to act surprised. He has been a league average pitcher in the NL since his career year in 2008 (124 ERA+, 1.102 WHIP).
His SO/9 rate has dropped (by over...
I believe that Hicks' ceiling is starting to look like a fair hitting good defense center fielder. Perhaps a 4th OF.
I expect a more likely outfield late next season is Arcia, Buxton...

Mudcat Grant won 21 games in 1965 and the Twins went to the World Series.
As a kid I thought he was the greatest.
Sausage and green olives.

Every baseball strike has been a sword to my heart.
I can enjoy baseball even when the Twins are having a bad year (or several in a row), but those strike years hurt bad.

I believe that the best reason to start Hicks in AAA is to get him confident in himself. A lot of AAA pitchers have been in MLB. He hits them and he should be confident he can hit MLB pitching.
Just have to say.... I love the title of this thread.
It's like a guy who can't do anything right.

Did anyone else bother to sort his predictions by BA?
According to Clay Davenport, Mike Trout is going to lead MLB in batting average.
He will hit .297.
Davenport needs a new program to work...

Wow. Jeter could soon be the third best SS on the team.
(perhaps fourth, depending on their utility IF)
This link shows players who will be free agents next year.
There are some SSs there and some really good SPs. I don't really want the Twins to sign someone to a multi-year deal just to tie up...
Marta - I cannot see them starting Hicks in MLB.
They are REALLY going to want him to succeed this time.
I see AAA time in his future. Hopefully not long, but I would guess a month at least. So,...
Apparently some of the more predictable questions and answers were accidentally deleted.
Please say again, how do you get those bikini ads to show up?
One of the more memorable characters from my baseball youth.
Me and my friends were always big fans.
Seemed like you were going to win when Mudcat was pitching. I know that 21 wins in '65 was his...
I would love to see Worley & Diamond come back and have a great 2014.
I think it's unlikely, so I chose between Parmelee and Plouffe.
I went with Parmelee. WTH
I went with Arcia.
I don't think Sano will light the league on fire right away.
If Willingham is up there he will be traded at the deadline.
I'm not a fan of the Buck idea.
We have a couple of ex-catchers in Mauer and Steinbach who can help mentor Pinto. I thought they specifically had Fryer on the 40-man roster to be a backup. We also...
Not sure why people are higher on Diamond than Duensing, but neither would entice me to pass on Kazmir if TR was willing to go get him.
We have a number of pitchers who may never be more than...
Well I was wrong.
I still don't think that Correia is an elite pitcher, but he held up pretty well for a team that didn't give any of their pitchers very much support. Correia was at least as...
John - You guys have created a wonderful site here. Even as my optimism drains slowly from my body I cannot keep from coming to this site several times a day.
One recommendation: you have the...
