Kurt Suzuki hitting .320 with 15 2Bs and 32 RBI, can he get picked over Norris as a backup for the All-Star game?

I agree. I don't like trading away good pitching if you don't have to. Morales will have some trade value, but if you pick him up in June and trade him in July, do you run the risk of scaring away...
You think 1 hit and 8 Ks over 7 IP is pedestrian? I'll take it every single time.
Gibby is looking good today. 8 Ks already!
Has anyone seen him play? Can he translate to MLB pitching? We have seen Chris Parmelee and Chris Collabello dominate at lower levels, but until you see him in person, you can't always tell if he can...

I disagree that you can win without a top pitcher. I think you either need an ace or a pitcher that was a top 15 guy during a 3-5 stretch.
I think most of these guys in the last 6 years meet that...

I guess I should have clarified that they need to trade for an ace pitcher when they are contending, not necessarily this year. However, in a couple of years if the Twins are close, I would...

Didn't have an Ace in mind for this thread, but I would give up any prospect besides Buxton and Sano for the right pitcher.
Yes, "aces" are prone to injury and decline, but I don't believe you...

If you look at every team that has won or been to a World Series they had either a HOF quality pitcher or a guy that dominated for a 5+ year span and pitched his team to the World Series,...

Looking at the year-by-year league batting avg, since 1973 it has mostly fluctuated between .255 and .265, except for a few late 90s steroid years, while the home runs per year have gone from approx...

Brian Dozier is having a great season hitting .245, because in many people's eyes he is hitting home runs. Yes, he is stealing bases and scoring runs, but if Chuck Knoblauch was ever hitting .245 we...

Has hitting evolved to such a level that will will never see the high avg player again?
There are still many high average players in MLB, but many of them are also power guys. Ultimately, that is...
Kyle Gibson is not a Top 20 pitcher right now. However, he has a BAA of .246, which is 17th best in the league. An OBP of .306, good for 19th. An OPS of .649, 9th place, and a BABIP of .265, which is...
We better just take all pitcher's in the June draft. Maybe then we can find someone that can pitch at the major league level.

5 runs in the 2nd inning off of Liriano so far. Is it time to turn the page on Liriano? Or still early in the year?
Ryan Madson $8.5M - At free agency time, we didn't know he would tear an elbow ligament
Johnathan Broxton $4M
Erik Bedard $1M
Takashi Saito $1.5M -...
He can't be any worse than Valencia at 3B. You are right, there is more to the game than just hitting, but his potential is exciting. Another 2-4 day today with 10 RBI already.
Miguel Sano hit 2 homeruns today for Beloit and already has 3 in 4 games. When do we see him move up? Or get to the Majors? The Twins are notoriously slow at bringing top prospects to the majors. I...

One run can be the difference between winning and losing. I take the sure out at home in that situation.

1-2 mph slower at the start of the season is OK, but 4-5 mph less is scary. He was healthy during spring training and had plenty of time to get the arm back in shape. Let's hope is was just a fluke...

What happened to Frankie Franchise from 2006 that had a 2.16 ERA, 12 Wins, 4.1 WAR, and "Wowed" us with his 93-95 mph fastball and 88 mph slider? Did his injury or Tommy John Surgery change his...
It is very hard to develop a #1 pitcher. Most #1 pitchers show their top potential from the start or early in their minor league career. However, I agree that the Twins haven't even developed many #2...
I agree. It is not Gardy or Anderson's fault that the Twins do not have strike out pitchers. The Twins do not have the ability or don't want to spend big money to sign, trade or draft power pitchers....

If you look at this list of world series starting pitchers, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_World_Series_starting_pitchers, virtually every team had an Ace that got them there. The Twins do not...
