I couldn't tell you, but again I can't imagine much. Clearly they think they are okay with the outfield, so possibly some infielders to compliment 1B Jose Abreu or starting pitching. Another reason...

The Twins are interested in White Sox outfielder Alejandro De Aza and I think it makes a great deal of sense for them. The organization lacks any immediate help in centerfield and it would be great...

In 2 years you have a rotation that could look like this

Arcia has had two AAA stints already, Gibson has been in AAA forever, and Pinto was destructive in the IL and performed much better than Fryer did there. A bottom of the barrel catcher like Suzuki...
With Johan Santana signed, the Orioles again continued their obvious pattern.
I want to create a list of the past 2-3 years, with the expectation that my fellow posters contribute ones I miss....

Kubel should not be given any more than 270 ABs in all likelihood. He's back in the AL, but unfortunately in an unfavorable environment for lefties (Target). I feel like he needs all the stars to...

Smith wouldn't have been as bad a GM if we'd have cut his phone line. His international scouting was brilliant and he was willing to take risks. A number of poor trades, inheritance of a doomed club,...

Let me get this straight. You want to trade away a catcher who crushed the high minors the last two seasons with decent defensive abilities for another weak hitting SS? I'm not convinced Gregorius is...

Pinto really doesn't have anything to learn in AAA after destroying the IL. Doesn't seem fair to keep him off the roster. Plus, 6 Outfielders is MUCH too many.

No one has ever seen Buxton go from first to third. It's impossible to the naked eye.

I like his name. That's all I got right now.

John Buck was the worst pitch framer in the MLB and comparable to Doumit at the plate. Doumit didn't want to catch this year either. Suzuki was the best choice on the market and just above...

Kipnis and Dozier both had short rookie seasons, but if we go off year 2:
Dozier: .244/.312/.414 (.726) 18HRs; 14/7 SB:CS in 623PAs for 3.8 WAR
Kipniis: .257/.335/.379 (.714) 14HRs; 31/7 SB:CS in...

I think it's too soon to say Brian Dozier is only good. He hasn't had more than 1,000PAs yet and in his 3rd season, even at age 26, I think he still has the ability to improve his game by a...

I'm not saying you aren't correct, but I would never pay Pelfrey 10 million a year to do what he did last season. This is pretty controversial and why I prefer BR to Fangraphs.
Pelfrey fWAR: 2.1...

I'm wondering who will succeed Thielbar. Pinto, Tonkin, Meyer, Sano, and Buxton all seem like the best candidates.
12-24-2013, 11:42 AM
Fllorimon was an above average shortstop last season (.6WAA) and he likely can repeat what he did. Drew is only a minor upgrade and for that reason it isn't worthwhile to give up a draft pick and...

Deduno has a lot of movement on his pitches and he keeps the ball in the yard. Even if he regresses a little bit from last season, I think he has a future at the back end for a couple years.

Fantastic deal and it makes up for signing Pelfrey!! I'm very glad this happened and Terry Ryan fleeced the Braves by not only getting a somewhat decent player, but unloading Doumit's overpaid...
Reynolds should never play 3rd base. He's a terrible, terrible defender and the only use for him is as a DH.
12-17-2013, 12:01 PM
I wouldn't mind if the Twins just stuck with Fryer for Pinto's backup anyway. Doumit's not going to catch and he can't do anything besides DH. He doesn't hit righties as well as Kubel and his splits...

I would be like to sign him. Much, much better than going for Buck, Pierzynski, or Salty.
12-15-2013, 02:44 AM
So I assume the Twins are just planning on this or what?
12-14-2013, 12:47 PM
HBT says Arroyo is between the Reds and Twins, so if Minnesota offers two years, I think they have him signed. If it stops Pelfrey's return, I am all for this.
Per Aaron Gleeman
The Twins offseason isn't safe until Arroyo, Pelfrey, Buck, and Drew are...
