Watching Hernandez get shelled reaffirmed in me the notion that, in today's game, if guys don't respect your fastball, they just sit offspeed, keep their hands back and hit ropes. I don't want...

It has to be Gibson. They used Mastro's spot for Colabello. They will likely use Woods' spot for Deduno. They are running out of 60-day DL candidates. I suppose they could DFA someone. But whom?
Ryan said in an interview, "if you asked a scout who had never seen him, he would say that he's been a second baseman his whole career."
Thank you. You've brightened my day!
Let's recap. In the last five years, they've changed GMs twice, replaced the guy who runs the draft, the guy who runs player development, every coach and manager in the minors, the minor league...

I'm not all that happy about this. But I can understand it. Deduno was scheduled to start the year in place of Hendriks until he hurt his groin in the WBC championship game. This is how long it has...
Shades of Kyle Gibson. Too bad we don't have any sandwich picks.

He's on the fast track. I think he will spend the second half of 2013 in Fort Myers. I think he will start 2014 in AA, and get promoted to AAA mid-year, with a September call-up. I think he'll be the...

The projected pitching staff when Buxton arrives in 2015:
When Buxton is the core of a team of stars including Sano, Rosario, Arcia and Mauer, the...

I don't think Meadows will be the best player available at #4. You say he has all five tools, but he does not have a ton of power and his arm is destined for left field. As a pure hitting left...

I don't think it's a hard date. It's on a percentage basis. I believe the player needs to be in the top 20% of his rookie class. If it's a particularly light year for rookies, it might go to July.

If they pass on Manaea, I will be very put out.
05-20-2013, 03:28 PM
It depends on who's left. If Manaea is there, I'd be disappointed if they didn't take him. Ditto Bryant. I figure one or the other will be there. In other words, I'd be disappointed if they took...

Odds are, it's Gibson because of the 40-man issue. If they had found some damage in Wood's shoulder, maybe. But the MRI came in clean. So they probably don't want to 60-day DL him.

May 2012: ERA 4.87, WHIP 1.45, HR/9 1.3
May 2013: ERA 3.96, WHIP 1.36, HR/9 0.6
If you don't want to count birds on a AA arm, why would you count them on a couple of draft picks?
Ultimately, the two are related. You can't win if all the players cost too much to keep them. Considering that we won't win this year, it makes sense to keep him in Rochester until June 1 to avoid...

I don't think you draft based on need. I have no qualms with drafting Buxton last year. Think of how much pitching we were able to acquire with Revere. On a scale of 1-10, Revere is a 6 at best. But...
I don't understand the Twins' reluctance. Both Berardino and Neal said after the game last night that the Twins are in no hurry to call up Gibson in place of Hernandez. LENIII mentioned consistency....

How much of the spike in velo is due to fast guns on the Cape? You rarely see a guy have that kind of a short-term spike without at least showing that velo at times afterward. Guys sometimes dial it...

He's been consistent, with the exception of his last start, when he had a tired arm.
05-19-2013, 12:00 PM
In the context of how they handle their pitchers, especially their prospects, it was preposterous. They rarely let guys throw more than 100 pitches. Considering he is on a strict innings limit so...

Who plays center field? Clete Thomas, I hope not. Clete was a middling right fielder when he played for the Twins. Richardson is a lot like Ben Revere out there.
05-18-2013, 10:37 AM
I'd send down Ramirez and call up Richardson. If things continue as they are, I'd send down Parmelee and call up Colabello. That second move requires another 40-man move, which I think is Wood going...

He needs surgery to repair a chip in the bone. This is consistent with my earlier theory: He...

It's never purely about results. It's mostly about whether Ryan's scouts think he's ready to get major league hitters out consistently. Ryan has said, "When they tell me he's ready, I'll bring him...
