I'm relieved Hicks wasn't part of these cuts. I need something to watch early in the season after my "yay baseball is back!" enthusiasm wears off and I have to watch this brutal offense. He would...
This story is seriously nuts.
I think the idea that Gibson makes the rotation is based on hope. It's a hope I share but I don't see any scenario, barring a pile of injuries in two weeks, that makes that happen.

Teams don't do it because players don't want to/have agreed as a union not to. That goes for front-loaded deals and hometown discounts. Lots of discussion on this in the past, probably not worth...

Good deal for both sides. Perkins is an easy guy to root for.
And, sure, it takes a nice trade chip off the block but at some point you have to keep some guys around for stability too. So good...

I thought I had read the asking price was REALLY high too.

You're right that clarity with the 5th spot is going to go a long way, but I'd caution something else. The Twins know that Hughes, Pelfrey, and even Correia have a lot to prove yet to be cemented in...

Im generally with you on that. I want Gibson up now but I won't be irate about it until June. But I strongly disagree with the notion that a guy gets blocked only if the options in front of him are...

In an interview question about the 5th starter Antony implied very heavily that it was a three man race. Then he talked about Johnson/Gibson.

We've formed bizarre loyalties in the past also. The rhetoric about Johnson and Fryer this year has made it seem like loyalties are already formed. Right now he's in 8th until something with the...
Yeah, methinks you were focused on ethics and I was focused on the practicalities of why.

Excellent points ashbury....but doesn't all that speak to my larger point that how a prospect gets blocked is by a myriad of factors that are different situation to situation? The surest thing to...

That remains to be seen - I wouldn't rule out all of them staying with this team in some capacity or another.
And again, the fallacy in your logic is that the starter has to be "good" to block...
Well, that wasn't their first action. They also offered their own economic package and terms for Ukraine joining their group. They made this action because things were escalating thanks to what was...

I didn't see Worley in those future rotations either. You're suggesting that people are lumping them together by talent and I don't see any evidence of that at all. Did some people forget Gibson? ...
The refusal came because of an ultimatum regarding a political adversary. Along with other pressures to accept. There is a strong sense among international experts that the West then sparked the...

He's in the same group that are all lumped into 5-9 in the depth chart. Not because of talent, but because of where they are in the depth chart.
You're turning it into something else that I...

I'd also like to suggest that this is enlightening to the conversation:
Antony said it himself about the two...

Well...what do they all have in common? One spot to fight for. I wish he had a spot regardless but all the dialogue from the Twins indicate he's not even in the running for that spot.

Part of it is the comp pick being attached. If that wasn't there the 1 year deals would make a ton of sense but that's not the situation here.

They'll be cheap for 6 years. What the Twins budget looks like now isn't all that important really.
Money has never been my issue with this. It was the guaranteed contracts/spots that is my...
No that's ok, I'll give the best recounting of it I can. She's a psychologist, well educated, etc.
She was at the 120 year old farm house we grew up on. Her husband was outside with our father...

The problem with your perspective is that you treat "beat out" as if it's some kind of automatic thing where the spot is handed over the instant that would be appropriate. Things don't work that...

Nothing other than the "eating salary" part is a relevant comparison. Correia is coming off a decent season whereas Blackburn was vomit-inducing for almost an entire season and couldn't even pull it...

Again though, you can't say a move is a good idea based on a premise completely derived from your own feelings about what the Twins should do. It can only be based on what the Twins would actually...
