Christopher Crawford wrote a fantastic article on stats that matter for the 2014 draft. Here is a scouts quote on "stat scouting".
“You hear the term process and result a lot,” a long-time...
MLB Weekly HS Round Up:
Kolek- 6 innings, 0 H, 0 ER, 11 K. Fastball 92-98. Off speed average. Scout quote from Crawford:
"Velocity isn't everything, but it's nice to see, especially...
MLB Weekly Draft College Round Up:
Rodon- 7 innings, 3H, 1 ER, 8K, 3 BB. Reports had his fastball at 94 with great life. Control of off-speed wasn't as great has it has been.
Draft prospect weekend recap:

Tweet from Jerry Crasnick:
Heard today that #twins offered Matt Garza a 3 yr, $42 million deal before he signed with #brewers.
We all knew they were following Garza closely but it is...
From BA's top 100 chat (which is currently still going on)
Would you rather have Correa, McCullers Jr., and Ruiz or Buxton?
Ben Badler: I love Correa, but Buxton, easily.
Thanks for the interview Seth. This is one I have been waiting on. I'm a huge fan of this kid and can definitely see him being the steal of the draft. I almost fell of my chair because I was so...
First, their prospect special was a waste of time. John Hart talked WAY too much. He spent freaking 5 minutes on Tanaka who has been talked to death already. John Hart is MLB Networks version of...
While I'm a huge Turner fanboy I'm a long way from labelling him BPA at 5 if he is there. I want to see more offensive upside.
With the start of the college baseball season this past weekend it is time to get an official 2014 MLB draft thread. Here is what you need to know about the upcoming draft.
The draft will be held...

Who cares about Ortiz? This article is about Sano who is going to be awesome. I'm already planning to get his jersey the second he hits the bigs.
Just like when following the draft I feel you should look at top 100 lists in tiers. Most lists have Buxton in tier 1 by him self, Taveras and Bogaerts in tier 2, and the next 10-12 prospect in tier...
I was always a huge fan of Span but it takes value to get value. Starters with front of the rotation potential don't grow on trees. Even if Meyer flames out I would be fine with the trade. At least...
Prospects that have been drafted between 40-50, area we will be drafting in, in the past 4 years who have made it to top 100 lists:
2012: Lance McCullers Jr, Pierce Johnson, Eddie Butler, Jesse...

Callis, whom had Buxton/Meyer as the #2 pitcher/hitter combo, went further to name his top 13 hitter/pitcher combos. Not only do we have Buxton/Meyer at #2 but he says he would have Sano/Stewart at...
Callis was asked via Twitter to rank the past #1 prospects of the last 4 years and he ranked them Buxton, Trout, Moore, Profar. That DOES NOT mean he thinks Buxton will be a better player than Trout....
The show will only be going over the top 50 but the top 100 list will be released after the show.
I'm hoping to see 4 twins in the top 50.

Christopher Crawford, one of the two writers who helps Keith Law around draft season, released his top 14 Twins prospect list last night. He does great work. The list is very interesting with a...

Tons of college level guys fail. Painfully Wimmers was considered the safest pick his year and we know how that has turned out. Hultzen was taking in the top 5 because he was a safe quick to the bigs...

While Nola screams Twin's type player I just don't see him being a top 5 or top 10 talent. Ryan has gone for upside the last two drafts and I see him doing that again this year.

An AAAA pitcher, roster spot, and $3.5M off the books. Solid trade.

Haha, you literally just beat me to posting it.
I prefer Callis to Mayo, by a large margin when it comes to prospecting, but I like his ideology here. While the Pirates are the easy choice, like...
How often is Steph Drew worth 2.5-3 WAR a year? It's not just about the draft pick. It's about getting rid of a draft pick, draft budget, to sign an often injured player. Heck, even if he didn't have...
Pass. Injury prone, costs a draft pick, and will be over payed. If you are willing to give up a draft pick and over pay someone go for a better player.

Whom ever is on top gets the blame rightfully so or not. Bill Smith didn't do a good job but so didn't a lot of other people. To drop off as fast as we did there had to be a perfect storm of screw...
