2016 Stohs Prospect Handbook Profile: Rogers is still 6-3, and while he’s not 170 anymore, he’s topping out, maybe, at 185 pounds. There has always been some concern about his body being able to hold up over a long season as a starter. His 202 combined innings in 2015 should help alleviate some of those concerns. The southpaw has the ability to dominate left-handed batters. He gets good drive off the rubber and has a whip-like action to his pitches. He has a good fastball which sits between 89-92 and touches 93-94 at times. His breaking pitches, slow curve or faster slider, can be devastating to left-handers. He has a good motion with his changeup, though it is still a work in progress and may be the pitch that will determine whether he can be a starter or a reliever. He has a quiet confidence. He has a definite mound presence.
