2016 Stohs Prospect Handbook Profile: After a successful prep career at Robbinsdale Cooper, Murphy went to Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. In his three college seasons, he hit 37 doubles and 27 home runs. He was also hit by pitch 33 times. That trait has continued into pro ball. Since being the Twins ninth-round pick in 2014. He has been hit 23 times. He was the Appalachian League MVP in 2014 despite playing in just 35 games in Elizabethton. In that time, he hit 378/.483/.723 (1.206) with seven doubles and ten homers. He’s 5-11 and 200 pounds. He has average speed. He stands close to the plate and generates some power to all fields. He can play all three outfield positions, although he is below average at each spot.
