2016 Stohs Prospect Handbook Profile: Michael left high school a year early and enrolled at North Carolina. As an 18-year-old freshman, he hit .290 with 15 doubles and 13 homers. Then he hit .346 with 14 doubles and nine homers. As a junior, he fought injury and hit .289 with 14 doubles and five homers. The Twins used the 30th overall pick on Michael. He didn’t play the rest of the year. In 2012, the Twins had him jump to Ft. Myers. He hit .246 in 117 games. He went back to the Miracle in 2013, he hit .229 but played just 94 games. In 2014, he hit .305 in Ft. Myers in 45 games, and got hurt. When he came back, he hit 340 with New Britain in 15 games. At 5-11 and 175 pounds, Michael has a great approach at the plate. He knows the strike zone. For his size, he has some pop. He may be a utility player though some question his arm strength on the left side of the diamond. He’s a solid second baseman.
