2016 Stohs Prospect Handbook Profile: | Kihle grew up in Andale, Kansas, a small town about 25 miles north and west of Wichita. Despite offers from several other Division I schools, Kihle signed as a preferred walk-on with Wichita State the day that they offered him. He had been primarily a pitcher early in life, but his competitiveness meant that he wanted to play everyday. He got just 47 at bats his freshman year. As a sophomore, he played 40 games and hit .313/.369/.456 (.825). As a junior, he played in 58 games and hit .301/.387/.390. He signed quickly after the Twins took him with their 18th round pick in 2015. Kihle is 6-0 and 185 pounds and a great athlete. He has a very strong arm, above average speed and power potential. The concern is his ability to make enough consistent content. He is a rare player who throws left-handed and bats right-handed. |
