Jorge, Felixfelix jorge
|Hometown:||Santiago, Dominican Republic|
|2016 Stohs Prospect Handbook Profile:||Jorge began the season in Cedar Rapids, the same place he struggled with a 9.00 ERA and a 1.97 WHIP at the beginning of last season. Through the first four months of the season, his monthly ERA total was never higher than 2.97 and he struck out 20 or more in four of the five full months of the season. Jorge set career bests in innings pitched (142 IP), strikeouts (114), wins (6) and starts (22) while posting his best WHIP total (1.06) since his debut in the Dominican Summer League. He seemed to tire near season’s end as he allowed multiple runs in seven of his last eight starts while being charged with four of his seven losses.
His 7.2 SO/9 rate stayed steady with last season and he was able to drop his BB/9 rate to 2.0, a career best. Right-handed batters struck out almost 24% of the time versus Jorge while hitting .219/.277/.396. Lefties struck out a little less often (22%) but combined for an OPS that was 27 points lower. Jorge has been younger than the competition in every professional season and this trend continued this year as he was a full year younger. This meant 62.7% of his at-bats came against older batters who he held to a .200/.261/.305 batting line.
