2016 Stohs Prospect Handbook Profile: | Hildenberger, a San Jose native, played his college ball at UC-Berkeley. After a couple of seasons there, and very limited pitching opportunities or success, he transitioned to throwing sidearm. The decision proved to be wise for the right-hander. Over his final two seasons there, he pitched a lot of games and a lot of innings for the Bears. His senior season, he recorded 10 saves. The Twins drafted the fifth-year senior in the 22nd round and sent him to the GCL, though he ended the season with a game in Elizabethton. At 6-2 and 190, Hildenberger is strong. He describes himself as a sidearmer, but can get up to three-quarter delivery at times. He is able to hit 93 with a sinking fastball, but he also has a solid slider and a good changeup. |
