My Dream Finish
Here is my Dream Finish for the American League:
- Oakland Beats Texas to win the AL West
- New York Loses and Baltimore wins forcing a game 163 on Thursday
- Baltimore wins game 163 to win the AL East
- Texas beats New York in Wild Card game on Friday thus eliminating New York from the playoffs.
If the above happens, I believe that Baltimore would be the #1 seed (due to winning extra game) and would host Texas in the ALDS and Oakland would host Detroit.

I think any true Twins fan would love it if the Yanks lost in a winner-take-all match like the one that the Twins played in right before they got swept out of the playoffs by NY in 2009 (Game 163 FTW!)

I thought that on last night's Detroit-KC game they said something about Detroit will host 1st round.
I wasn't sure at the time how that was true but I believe it is what was said. So I'm confused.

Do you think anybody in the MLB office dreamed that the one-game wild card game might be Texas & the Yanks?

No, but Baltimore and the BoSox both need to get it going for that to happen.

For Round 1 they apparently changed the format from 2-2-1 to 2-3 so instead of the higher seeded team starting out at home they actually start on the road for the first 2 games. This was done to cut down the days off needed for travel days to shorten the overall length needed for the postseason.
It looks like the 7 game series will still follow the 2-3-2 format that has been used in the past.
