    Morneau

Interesting ESPN Insider piece by Jim Bowden discussing the (lack of) tradability of Justin Morneau. Long story short, he says no GMs would take on Morneau, but come the end of July, the Yanks or Rangers may be interested...

For now, I'm just happy 33 hit one on the screws today.

Of course he assumes that the Rangers and the Yankees will have a better record than the Twins in a few months. That's a bad assumption.

Call me crazy, but I don't think the Twins -- unwilling to move Cuddyer at the deadline last season -- have any desire to let Morneau go.
If he can stay healthy, even if it's only as DH, I would be surprised if this organization tries to move him.

The other half of this story is that, even if healthy, I still don't think Morneau -- self-admittedly one concussion away from retirement and now increasingly prone to such injuries -- will fetch a haul from organizations that will find themselves on the hook for about $22 million in salary.

He will have to play some 1B for his trade value to rise. If his numbers come back, stays injury free and the Twins eat some money on his contract.... AND... The Twins decide to get younger. He could fetch a decent prospect from a pennant chasing team.

Remember... We cut 15 million off the payroll... If we are buyers... Not out of the question. We just may have wiggle room to actually buy.

Raise a glass and drink to his health.

Teams that would take a chance on Morneau: Toronto comes to mind first. Washington comes to Mind. Rockies is another. Any team that suffers an injury.

Not that I'm hoping he gets moved.

We can strip the Payroll down to the level of the Saint Paul Saints.

    I'm sure the Pohlad's wouldn't mind.$$$$$$$

If he's tradable, then I suspect that the Twins will be competing and not be trading him. Kind of what it is as we will be buyers looking for pitching, but without the system to get good pitchers.

Preposterous statement nominee. And a potential #1 seed
