Why is Doumit a starter?

Well, it is a one-year deal... and he hits like Kubel and plays defense about the way Kubel did.

I'm not saying Doumit is bad overall for the team, I just think at this point I would rather him being the backup catcher and a late-inning pinch hitter than starting in RF.

Also, that OF of Hicks, Benson, Revere and Span sounds like fun. With the speed those four have, we could almost ditch an IF and just have them cover all the grass in the stadium.
