Yeah, late last night Deolis tweeted that he was very disappointed in not being able to play for his country in the WBC. Too bad. He had a tremendous winter in the VWL!

Miller: Deolis Guerra hospitalized with a blood clot in shoulder
Deolis Guerra was sent home from the WBC with what his team doctor believed was a torn pectoral muscle. In actuality, it was a blood clot in his shoulder. He was hospitalized and the clot is being dissipated, but he's going to be out for a while...
Good luck to Deolis.General manager Terry Ryan said the surgery will take place later this month, and he expects Guerra to be out of action for three months or so, basically half the season. Tough break for a kid who was so excited last week about pitching in the WBC, and who had an outside chance of making the big-league team.

Wishing him the best. Good thing they caught it early. Those can be pretty serious.

Mike Berardino now reports that Deolis has been moved to intensive care. It sounds like he's being watch closely until a procedure can be performed.
Minnesota Twins pitcher Deolis Guerra moved to intensive care - TwinCities.com"This is a serious thing they have to monitor really, really closely," Gardenhire said after Monday night's game against Tampa Bay. "They're taking care of him the way they know how. I'd leave it to the doctors."

Let's hope that they can get that blood clot fixed ASAP -- not a good situation.

Here is an article that says:
Deolis Guerra was transferred to Tampa General Hospital today, in preparation for surgery to remove the first rib on his right side. That should give the artery more room, and the Twins hope will prevent further blood clots. No word yet on when the surgery will take place.
I am not a doctor, but this sounds like it could be career ending. I hope for the best for him.
