    Neal: Alex Meyer is impressing

La Velle E Neal has referenced a "B" game in which Alex Meyer and JO Berrios were impressive. He expounds a little on how people reacted to Meyer:

"Meyer gave up one hit but was dominant in his outing. I didn't realize how dominant until I spoke with a couple people who were at the game and were very impressed. Meyer topped out at 95 miles an hour on the gun and threw an unhittable slider. He was nasty. Keep in mind that the Red Sox threw together a team of mostly minor leaguers who have been coming to park every day because they have nothing better to do. And that Meyer was a little wild in his previous outings. He was much more composed on Thursday and was able to show his talents."
I'll be shocked if the Twins see him at any point this year, but I'll be paying attention to how he's doing in High A or Double A this year.

I wouldn't be shocked but a little surprised. Mostly because it appears he has clear things to work on and they won't have to add him to the 40 man until the 2015 season.

There is a chance he could dominate and force himself on to the big league roster but I would find it doubtful they bring him up merely for a cup of coffee at the end of the year because of the roster considerations.

Does he start in AA this season? If so, there's no reason to think he won't get a september call up. Recall, that the got a late start to his professional career, and the need to hold him back, might be mitigated.

If he doesn't need to be added to the 40 man until 2015, I don't see him coming up to the majors unless he's here to stay.

He can still come up in Sept and not be added to the 40 man. I think he has a few people to jump like Hermsen before he gets a shot. It all depends on how the year goes. If we have a repeat of 2012 it isn't too far fetched to see him get a call. I hope he doesn't, that would mean the Twins starters are doing what they are supposed to do.
Do or do not. There is no try.

Yeah, he doesn't have to be added to the 40 man roster until after the 2014 season, so there is really no reason to bring him up in September (which would mean he is on the 40 man roster, since he's also on the 25 man roster).

Agreed, no reason to get him up in September, but the underlined is false. In September the MLB roster "expands" from the 25 man roster to the 40-man roster (yes technically they can have them all up) so he has to be on the 40-man but will not be on the 25-man (not such a thing technically in September before the post-season rosters are set again for the teams that are part of the post-season.)

It won't take until 2015 to see him if he has a good season this year. I'm guessing the Twins will play the super 2 game with him next summer.
