Sinker: Revere getting plenty of attention in Philly...
Howard Sinker blogs about all the stories being written about Ben Revere in Philly - and posts the Ben Revere "Put a Ring On It" video. You don't want to miss this.
He's either going to love or hate that city. I don't see any middle ground. I think it will be the former. And Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said: "I guarantee you the fans will like him if he gets on base."

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ben returning to AAA before the year is over. One slump and the Philly Phans will sour on his big smile. That's a recipe for a BA around .200.

The Phillies are loaded with vets with strong BB rates/OBP. Playing with guys like Chase Utley, Michael Young, Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard, he may learn more patience. It probably would have happend had he remained in Minnesota hitting between Span and Mauer too.

I look forward to watching any changes in Revere's batted ball rates. Coaches here, and Revere himself, were always saying he needs to "hit the ball on the ground."

That video was pretty good. It made it's way around Twins sites after the Red Wings put those together for him and Slama (and someone else, if I recall).

Philly is a really rough crowd. I was there in '93 (a WS year!) and they generally won. Early in the game somebody hit a 3-run HR, when that guy struckout his next AB (with baserunners) they booed him mercilessly. When Mitch Williams came in to close, most were cringing and hiding their face. Aside, I knew what to expect having watched Williams close in Chicago. But even so, he hadn't thrown a pitch yet so it seemed they should at least wait for him to screw-up before cringing--but that's Philly. Bottom line, Revere had better have a thick hide--he will need it!

Fans here prefer blue collar, high effort guys - I think Ben will do fine.

The Fans will love him as much as Philly Fans can love players... There will be a few metric minded fans that will wring their hands over his power stats but for the most part... The fans will love him...

I think he'll do well. Any utternaces that the fans might throw his way need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Those same metric-minded fans are also likely to acknowledge that if he's OPS'ing somewhere in the low .700's while playing great defense he's still a pretty valuable player. If anything, the non-metric-minded are just as likely to tear into a zero-power player like Ben (the same types that rip a player like Mauer for having "no arh-bee-eyez."

Thats true... Nothing is exclusive.
In the end... Every player is getting bashed for something by someone somewhere and every player will have some waiting in line for an autograph.
I wasn't trying to stereotype any particular baseball ilk.
Stereotypes are very unfair... I don't believe the stereotype that all South Dakotans not only eat their food but they also eat the plates and silverware.
I saw it in a restaurant in Brookings once but I'm sure it was just 6 isolated people at 3 different tables.

Thankfully I'm not a South Dakotan, I just live here.

lol... I stopped there... The Family and I were driving down the interstate with no plans to stop... And I just said "for Christ's sake" and I turned the car and made the off road trek to Wall Drug. I don't know why... I just did it...
In North Dakota... Our Capital is Bismarck... Back in the 1970's... Bismarck was called "The Settlement".
BTW... Interesting fact... 32% of all males in Bismarck are actually named Mark. 25% of the females are also named Mark. Oddly only 20% are named Biz.
