2012 - Odd Scheduling
With the Twins opening their season on a Friday afternoon a week into April, the Miracle, Rock Cats, and Red Wings will all have played their first games of the season the day before the Twins instead of starting the minor league schedule the typical few days later. I don't recall that happening before. What was the reasoning for the MLB schedule being pushed back? Minor League playoff considerations for the September call-ups?

Reduce the number of reg season games to 150 and start the season in mid April. I know this does'nt answer your question but the season is just way too long, even at 150 it's too long but.....

The mlb should have reduced the season back to 154 games and made the new wildcard playoff best of three (if they were determined to have it). But yeah, I don't see the owners ever agreeing to a shorter season.
