If Nick Punto could bring Clayton Kershaw with him to the Twins, that would be awesome.

Twins need to find the next Nick Punto. This one is too old.
I don't know if the future Punto is in the organization. If so, it is Escobar who has accomplished at least as much as the Punto at 23 had accomplished.

Please, no. Anything but Punto.
Well, not anything. But close to anything.

What could he bring? I don't know...the rage of a good portion of the remaining fans?

yeah, if he's bringing a nice middle infield or SS prospect over with him, I'd be fine with eating his salary... otherwise, he can stay in LA.

Is this a joke? The thought of adding another declining utility infielder is making me feel a bit ill.

In a rebuilding year, Plouffe should play every game, to see what you really have. I see no reason at all for that not to happen. A team, in this situation, that does not realize this, does not understand some pretty fundamental stuff about strategy. If you are not playing to win this year, only young players should be on the field, where you do not currently have starters.
What good would it do the Twins beyond this year to do this?

Scrappiness! A veteran presence! Wisdom beyond... well... equal to his years. We have the aged veteran presence in Jamey Carroll. Thanks for the past Nick Punto but that's where you belong, in the Twin's past.

I am fine with Punto comming back. I would be more upset if we had more established MI. But as of right now we have Carroll and either Dozier or Florimon. With Florimon being the starting SS at the moment, It would be nice to have a qualified SS candidate as the Twins are not going to pay for anything better.

If the manager was anyone else, it wouldn't be a huge deal, but keep him away from Gardy. He brings nothing that Carroll doesn't already bring except a worse bat and we don't need a Punto/Carroll middle infield, which is what we would have by May 1st.

This is spurious speculation. We had a chance to sign him last offseason, but instead chose to sign Jamey Carroll. We don't need two aged utility players on one team.
