Slowey Still Available

As long as we're signing the likes of Scott Elarton and Michael O'Connor to minor league contracts why not extend an olive branch to Kevin Slowey? If he pitches well we look like geniuses. If he doesn't, we get the satisfaction of cutting him again.

Well, given it's unlikely the Twins try for Jackson, Marcum, or Lohse yet this offseason after not even offering contracts for Dempster or McCarthy among others, and Ryan is interested in getting pitching depth, then yes! After all, Slowey only wants to be a starter and we need starting pitching.

If Slowey would sign a minor league contract with the Twins. why not? Do you think that Slowey would do it ?

Only if we get something like this in writing: "I'd be thrilled to pitch out of the bullpen. If that's what I can do to help the Twins win. I'll do what ever Gardy and Andy want me to do. I just want to help..." Ain't gonna happen.

He went to the bullpen without complaint, tried and couldn't adjust. Then he said something. This after posting the best ERA out of all 6 candidates for the rotation in spring training and losing a rotation spot. Remember Baker wasn't even considered for bullpen because they said he couldn't handle the transition. That was okay though, cause that was their call. Well, neither could Slowey.
I don't see him as the bad guy in that situation.

I'm sure he would be happy to come back to an org that drug him through the mud before and after he left.
