    Mark DeRosa

Totally worth a minor league contract IMO. He is the perfect fit for this team heading into 2013 and provides some much needed INF stability and right handed bat.

What are you guys all worried about? De Rosa on a minor league deal....Whats the risk? For heavens sake we gave Zumaya 1,000,000 to throw 1 spring traning pitch!

Feel free to name a better 2B/SS option who also can swing a big bat.

    Protip: you can't.

De Rosa in 2012, .188 ave, .247 slg, .547 ops and an ops + 52 he swings a big (?) bat the problem is he misses most of the time. Makes Butera look like Babe Ruth.

Maybe you should define swing a big bat!

He was dealing with some serious injury issues, he apparently will be back to 100% by opening day 2013.

    Last three full seasons

281 .356 .448 .803 106 OPS+ 67 HRs and excellent defense at 2B, 3B, LF, RF and serviceable defense at SS and CF

Escobar, Florimon, Casilla, Dozier, Carroll, and now DeRosa. With enough bodies plugging the middle infield, they might attract weak ground balls just by their sheer gravity

You're using 2007-2009 stats? And those 67 homeruns are 2006-2009.

I can't believe you actually took time to look that up.

You're promoting a guy who has 1 HR in the last 3 years? Heck....cover up the name. Good defense, poor bat, 1 HR in 3 years. That's Jamey Carrol, folks. I think Punto has a better bat.

As with any DeRosa thread, the best parts are the serious responses.

Gotta bring someone in to push Plouffe to play better. Sean Burroughs did a great job lighting a fire under Danny Valencia.

I was surprised that some of them were actually coming from the BYTO crowd.
