Well said. I think one of the big problems here was that the infield fly was called really late. I'm not saying it was the wrong call, but I also think the umpire should have just let that one play out.

One of the better takes overall as most opinions seem far too influenced by the result of the play. I don't know that it was a great call, but I can certainly understand why it was made and why it was made when it was made.
If the ump had let it play out and but the SS had purposely dropped it on purpose and then managed to turn a double play (not likely but possible), people would have been just as upset. Or, maybe they wouldn't have because they figured the ball was in the outfield and don't understand the rule.
