August 1, 2012
When August 1, 2012 comes around which current Twins players do you see not being on the roster?

Capps will be gone, and probably Liriano too. If Pavano had been healthy and effective, I'd add him to the list, but I think his injury will cool interest, since he is a free agent at the end of the year - he probably can't add to a contender this year, so teams will wait to see how he bounces back and possibly offer him a contract after the year.
I think there will be offers for Span and Willingham, but I'm not certain what we will be offered in return will be enough to justify a trade.

Liriano and Capps traded.
Oliveros, Walters, Blackburn, Hendriks, Parmelee back on. Deduno, DeVries, Gray or Fien off.
Whatever injury replacements are needed.

I don't care to speculate too much on who will be on or off the roster on 8-1-12, but David Phelps will be on our roster at that time, being part of the Liriano trade to the Yanks for Phelps, Austin Romine, and Brandon Laird.

Yeah, I think Ryan will try, but this is the best of what he will get - speculatively.

I expect Span, Capps, and Liriano to be gone. If Pavano gets back and pitches effectively in August, they may trade him at the waiver deadline. Morneau's injury history, performance and contract probably make him untradeable.

Lirano
Capps (or gone in August)
Pavano (maybe someone will claim him in August)
Blackburn back in July (then put on waivers in August)
Valencia on waivers but no claim
Toshi on waivers but no claim
Span
Casilla on waivers ion August
Carroll on waivers in August but no claim
Gray sent down
P.J. sent back
Deduno sent back
surpirse, Morneau is traded

Liriano is think is a strong possibility, but I wouldn't be shocked if he stays.
Span is another possibility, but I don't think there will be enough value for him.

Capps and Burton.
Casilla.
Pray for Pavano as well, but that is unlikely.
Danny Valencia can be involved in a trade as well.

Sell low candidates: Morneau, Pavano, Valencia. Don't trade them because they bring back only a fraction of their real value. Sell high candidate: Willingham--don't trade him if you want FAs to come to Minnesota. However, I can't see him sustaining his slugging for the whole year. I think that if the Twins can get fair value for Liriano, Span and Capps, they should pull the trigger on all three.

Between his big contract and injury history, Morneau won't draw an offer worth taking. Pavano won't be traded while he's still on the DL (which he probably will be until August).
Fien and Gray aren't going to be sent off unless they completely implode. They've both been adequate, but not good enough to draw trade interest. There isn't really anyone beating down the door for a bullpen spot. Why risk losing a player for nothing that is doing their job just to give a kid who hasn't earned a spot yet an extended tryout? Remember, any of the guys down in the minors could be back up here Sept. 1 anyways without having to throw someone away.
And why in the bloody hell do people think Casilla is going anywhere? He isn't drawing trade interest (mostly because he isn't playing on a day-to-day basis). There is ZERO reason to DFA him. Who's progress is he impeding? Who is going to replace him? How is getting rid of him (or Carroll for that matter) going to help the team right now? What harm is it possibly going to do to keep him and Carroll where they are until the end of the season?

I'm pretty sure that Liriano, Capps, and Span will be traded.
The Twins will try to get rid of Pavano post-trade deadline but I'm not sure they'll be able to pull it off with his bad shoulder. Casilla will probably be dumped.
