Twins App
Does anyone know if the Twins have an app available? I can't seem to find one in the iTunes store. Am I missing something or are the Twins missing the boat big time?

Thanks, rocketpig, for the reply. I still find this strange, as I am a Green Bay Packers fan and they have their own app. This builds brand loyalty and is something that I think the Twins are missing out on.

The Twins High-A minor league team, the Fort Myers Miracle, have their own app. You can listen to the games directly on your phone so that's pretty cool.

I could have sworn I heard Bremer saying something about a Twins app as they came back from commercial just in the last few days. Maybe he was talking about the MLB one.

What would such a thing do?

MLB's strategy has been quite different from the NFL in that everything they do digitally has had an emphasis on the MLB brand, not individual teams. I think this has to do with the split revenue system the MLB has historically employed. Until the digital age, teams basically fended for themselves. They signed their own stadium deals, negotiated their own television rights, sold their own jerseys, and had control over every aspect of their business.
Given the disparity of revenue in baseball, MLB wisely took advantage of the emerging digital age to change that policy. If you look at team websites, they all redirect to an MLB subdomain. MLB.tv doesn't work for individual teams; it is run completely by MLB and revenue is dispersed equally (to my knowledge). The app is an MLB app and there are no team apps. The MLB Network is also in this vein. All of this is an attempt to consolidate revenue and disperse it equally between teams. Personally, I think it's a good idea that makes for a stronger MLB moving forward. The more money that MLB makes from digital content that is equally distributed between teams, the smaller the gap between the Yankees and A's revenue becomes in time.

MLB advanced media or BAM for us nerdy industry folks is widely concerned the best technology any of the leagues employ, MLB.TV was and remains ahead of the curve for other leagues, and MLBAM was actually tapped this year to host the online march madness tournament games for CBS (and the product was about 10x better then last year) that is also why I suspect it cost $3.95 instead of free. With that said, I have a feeling MLBAM doesn't want a bunch of teams with no app tech experience going off and making there own apps that end up sucking.
