1b?
I know there have been rumors swirling around about trading Morneau, but I'm really questioning wether he would be worth the big contract and injury risks for anyone to offer a decent package.
Now, if Parmelee got significant playing time, or they sent him back to AAA and he tore it up, I'm thinking someone might consider a "prospect swap" type trade for him.
To a team that doesn't have the Twins overwhelming number of left-handed bats, and needs a regular 1b, I think he might be a very valuable asset. Yes, he could be a long term solution at 1b for the Twins, but right now there isn't a spot for him, and it does seem like 1b is one of the easiest positions to fill. Right now, besides Morneau and Parmelee, they could have Doumit, Mauer or Plouffe play 1b, and I'm sure Casilla, Carroll, and Willingham could cover it in an emergency. And it seems like there are always veteran hitters looking for a DH/1b position.
So waddaya think? Should we be grooming Parmelee to be a trading chip? If you had a choice, which would you trade first? Should we just go nuts and trade them both?
