It seems as though this was largely unnoticed and it happened last Wednesday. The former rule 5 pick was released despite having a 2.83 ERA, .199BAA, and a 6-3 record. Doyle also had 71 SOs in 76 Innings. He has a spectacular minor league track record, but the White Sox must not have any intentions of keeping him in their future plans. Should we sign him back?
Why not? Minor league contract. If he blossoms, great. If not, Rochester needs starting pitching right now anyway.
If I recall they granted him his release so he could go play in Japan.

too bad for him we didnt try to trade for him (did we give up too soon on him, ala Pearce) or that CHI wouldnt deal him to us cause he would be in the rotation right now.

Don't feel bad. I just remember it was a good discussion because initially people didn't understand and then it quickly came out that he had been released so that he could sign with the team in Japan. It was a good discussion on the Twins giving up on him too soon based on spring training.
