Esmil Rogers
This week's DFA pitcher is Esmil Rogers.
The 26 year old has not been successful, but he throws 96 and has a K/9 rate over 9 this year. His ERA would challenge Liriano and Blackburn. Is he worth taking a chance on?
Given his arm, the Rockies will probably find a trade partner before he can be claimed on waivers. It will not take a significant prospect. Often it is another player who has played in the majors and struggled like Valencia.

It looks like from statistics he is a batting practice pitcher.
I would say if you believe Anderson is smarter than Apodaca and can refine his pitching, maybe. The last few years it looks like he is the pitcher they throw out when the game is out of hand.Pitching Last 3 years Team G GS W L SV BS HLD CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA 2010 COL 28 8 2 3 0 1 1 0 0 72.0 94 59 49 5 26 66 6.13 1.67 .318 2011 COL 18 13 6 6 0 0 0 0 0 83.0 110 65 65 14 47 63 7.05 1.89 .320 2012 COL 23 0 0 2 0 2 2 0 0 25.2 36 23 23 2 18 29 8.06 2.10 .324 Career (Full) 70 22 8 11 0 3 3 0 0 184.2 243 149 139 21 93 161 6.77 1.82 .318
