  • Twins vs. Orioles, 07/17/2012, 7:10pm

In the sort of pounding that would make Pythagoras proud, the Twins shelled the Baltimore pitching staff for 19 runs last night. Almost everyone on the team contributed offensively and Scott Diamond threw a workman-like start behind some slipshod defense by Denard Span, who certainly offset the mistake with a 5 RBI night.

Tonight, we see Sam Deduno take the mound for the Twins, making only his second career MLB start. For the Orioles, Zach Britton will make his first start of the season. Having started 28 games last season, Britton has spent the year in the minors, accruing a 5-1 record with a 3.47 ERA.

Did the Twins spend all their offensive might last night? What kind of night do you expect from Deduno? As always, join the Twins Daily discussion found below!

In other news, the AL batting race is now on for Twins fans, as Joe Mauer has officially moved into second place, .020 behind Mike Trout of the Angels.

Did I miss something? Where the Twins in this race before this game?

Good one Glunn. Unfortunately, now I have a picture stuck in my head of this happening.

I'm rooting for Jeff Gray's walk total to pass his strikeouts.

Me too. Not sure exactly, but I think that swing came on April 6th.

A 3 run deficit is not exactly insurmountable.

I don't know what the big deal is about Jone's 3 run HR. The oposition is going to hit a few HR's against us every game... we all know this. Twins need 7+ R's to win this one.

Great at bat by Morneau. Twins MUST cash in here....the season depends on it, apparently.

Isn't a Jeff Gray appearance pretty much a guaranteed win these days?

Oh, man, 5 innings in 2:24 - and it's only a 4-4 game. This game is dragging (just like the season).
