• Twins vs. Orioles, 07/16/2012, 7:10pm

The Twins were swept by the Oakland A's in a three game set. This is not a very good team we're watching, folks. Well, at least half of it isn't very good.

In an attempt to stabilize the rotation, the Twins are sending out their de facto ace, Scott Diamond (I suppose you can argue that Liriano is the ace, though he never seems to actually get any wins). Diamond looks to shut down the Orioles offense while the Twins look to get back on track against Chris Tillman. Tillman is making only his second start of the season, having put up an impressive 8.1 innings of no-run ball against the not-so-impressive Seattle Mariners offense.

Will the Twins finally get their first "W" of the second half? What do you expect of Diamond tonight? Join the Twins Daily discussion and let us know!

JJ Hardy and his .631 OPS return to Target Field tonight... Steve Pearce spent a week or so of spring training with the Twins this year, hurt most of the time... Steve Tolleson was a 2005 draft pick of the Twins and got up to AAA in the organization before he was DFAd from the 40 man roster to make room for... Jim Thome, who is not in the Orioles lineup tonight.

Just went to find the probable starters for the Orioles for this series.

Hard to believe that its possible for anyone to look as pitiful as the Twins starters but Tillman, Britton and 2 "To Be Announced" might do it.

      Thank. God.

Speaking of Tillman, he is the kind of guy I wouldn't mind trying to trade for (nothing of substantial value). To bad they don't need "proven all star closer" help.

I think Tillman eventually becomes a solid pitcher, and I think a change of scenery out of the AL east would be nice for him.

The #1 starter is suppose to stop a losing streak, so we shall see.

They sold their soul for two unsustainable months, the inevitable return to earth is well under way.

3.70 ERA and .750 OPS first two months

4.70 ERA and .640 OPS last 6 weeks

Timely pitching and some timely hitting works.

I just got back from vacation and see we've dropped 5 games in that time (which covered the All-star break). Nice. Well, let's right the ship tonight.

Sigh. You know balls are hit like that in left field as well, right?
