• Twins vs. Tigers, 07/03/2012, 6:05pm

The Twins go into tonight's second game at Detroit feeling pretty good about themselves. They're on a four game winning streak, all against division rivals. Of course, that could all change tonight as Nick Blackburn takes the mound again for the Twins. I won't bother dredging up the numbers; we all know Blackburn has struggled mightily this season. To top it off, Max Scherzer was scratched from the lineup at the last moment with hamstring tightness. In his place, the Twins will see Duane Below, a young lefty who has been pitching well from Detroit's bullpen lately.

How will the Twins do against the unknown Below? Will the Twins continue putting runs on the board with ease? And most importantly, how many more starts do you think Blackburn gets in the rotation? Be sure to join the Twins Daily discussion at the bottom of the page!

Duane Below pitched in relief against the Twins on May 27. Mauer singled then was picked off first then 3 fly outs.

That was the game that Cabrera hit a 2 run homer off Crapps...

Good to see Casilla in the lineup. I don't think Casilla has proven anything either way, but playing Carroll on a noncontending team is pointless.

It looks like this one might get rained out, which may be better than watching Blackburn pitch.

---Too true. If he gets shelled again tonight, that's gotta be it for him. There's gotta be one of the Red Wings (or for that matter one of the Snappers, Saints, Gophers, FoxSportsNorth Girls or regular posters on this board) who we could start that would give us a better chance of winning.

I would like to see the Twins call up Deduno from Rochester.

Now a hit will score 2 runs. That would be a good start to what may be a long game.

It's starting to rain again, but not in a good way. Blackburn just does not have good stuff.

Me too. But I wish they had brought up Deduno just to see if he might be another Diamond in the rough. DeVries has been OK, but Deduno might be better than OK.

This is starting to remind me of Mantle and Maris. Too bad Morneau is not part of this.

Use a bat, it'd be good for a 3-run homer.
